Husain said: A beggar came to Ibn 'Abbas to beg from him. Ibn 'Abbas said to the beggar: 'Do you testify to La Ilaha Illallah?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Do you testify that Muhammad is the Messenfger of Allah?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'You fast(the month of) Ramadan?' He said: 'Yes?' He said: 'You asked, and the one who asked has a right, so you have a right upon us that we give you.' So he gave him a garment then said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) saying: No Muslim clothes a Muslim with a garment except that he is under the protection of Allah as long as a shred from it remains upon him.

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ، حَدَّثَنَا حُصَيْنٌ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ جَاءَ سَائِلٌ فَسَأَلَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ لِلسَّائِلِ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَتَصُومُ رَمَضَانَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلْتَ وَلِلسَّائِلِ حَقٌّ إِنَّهُ لَحَقٌّ عَلَيْنَا أَنْ نَصِلَكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَعْطَاهُ ثَوْبًا،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ كَسَا مُسْلِمًا ثَوْبًا إِلَّا كَانَ فِي حِفْظِ مِنَ اللَّهِ مَا دَامَ مِنْهُ عَلَيْهِ خِرْقَةٌ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ.

حصین کہتے ہیں کہ   ایک سائل نے آ کر ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما سے کچھ مانگا تو ابن عباس نے سائل سے کہا: کیا تم یہ گواہی دیتے ہو کہ اللہ تعالیٰ کے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں ہے؟ اس نے کہا: ہاں، آپ نے کہا: کیا تم یہ گواہی دیتے ہو کہ محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اللہ کے رسول ہیں؟ اس نے کہا: ہاں، آپ نے کہا: کیا تم رمضان کے روزے رکھتے ہو؟ اس نے کہا: ہاں، آپ نے کہا: تم نے سوال کیا اور سائل کا حق ہوتا ہے، بیشک ہمارے اوپر ضروری ہے کہ ہم تمہارے ساتھ حسن سلوک کریں، چنانچہ انہوں نے اسے ایک کپڑا دیا اور کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے: ”جو کوئی مسلمان کسی مسلمان بھائی کو کوئی کپڑا پہناتا ہے تو وہ اللہ کی امان میں اس وقت تک رہتا ہے جب تک اس کپڑے کا ایک ٹکڑا بھی اس پر باقی رہتا ہے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث اس سند سے حسن غریب ہے۔
