حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَخْزَمَ الطَّائِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي الْوَزِيرِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمَخْرَمِيُّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ نُبَيْهٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ذُكِرَ رَجُلٌ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعِبَادَةٍ وَاجْتِهَادٍ وَذُكِرَ عِنْدَهُ آخَرُ بِرِعَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تَعْدِلْ بِالرِّعَةِ ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ هُوَ مِنْ وَلَدِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ وَهُوَ مَدَنِيٌّ ثِقَةٌ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْحَدِيثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ.

Urdu Translation

جابر رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے ایک ایسے شخص کا ذکر کیا گیا جو عبادت و ریاضت میں مشہور تھا اور ایک دوسرے شخص کا ذکر کیا گیا جو ورع و پرہیزگاری میں مشہور تھا، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کوئی بھی عبادت ورع و پرہیزگاری کے برابر نہیں ہو سکتی“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے، اسے ہم صرف اسی سند سے جانتے ہیں۔

English Translation

Muhammad bin Al-Munkadir narrated from Jabir, that a man was mentioned in the presence of the Prophet (s.a.w) for his worship and striving in it, and another man was mentioned for his cautious piety. So the Prophet (s.a.w) said: Nothing is equal to cautious piety.
