Tawus said: We asked Ibn Abbas about squatting (sitting) on the heels. He said: 'It is the Sunnah.' We said: 'We think that it is difficult for a man.' He said: 'Rather, it is Sunnah of your Prophet.'

حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ طَاوُسًا، يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْنَا لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي الْإِقْعَاءِ عَلَى الْقَدَمَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هِيَ السُّنَّةُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّا لَنَرَاهُ جَفَاءً بِالرَّجُلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَلْ هِيَ سُنَّةُ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ إِلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا يَرَوْنَ بِالْإِقْعَاءِ بَأْسًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ بَعْضِ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْفِقْهِ وَالْعِلْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَأَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ يَكْرَهُونَ الْإِقْعَاءَ بَيْنَ السَّجْدَتَيْنِ.

طاؤس کہتے ہیں کہ   ہم نے ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما سے دونوں قدموں پر اقعاء کرنے کے سلسلے میں پوچھا، تو انہوں نے کہا: یہ سنت ہے، تو ہم نے کہا کہ ہم تو اسے آدمی کا پھوہڑپن سمجھتے ہیں، انہوں نے کہا: نہیں یہ پھوہڑپن نہیں ہے بلکہ یہ تمہارے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی سنت ہے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- صحابہ کرام میں بعض اہل علم اسی حدیث کی طرف گئے ہیں، وہ اقعاء میں کوئی حرج نہیں جانتے، مکہ کے بعض اہل علم کا یہی قول ہے، لیکن اکثر اہل علم دونوں سجدوں کے درمیان اقعاء کو ناپسند کرتے ہیں ۱؎۔
