Abu Hurairah narrated: [Some of] the Companions of the Prophet complained [to the Prophet] about the hardship of the prostration on them, when they were so spread out, so he said: 'Use your knees.'

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اشْتَكَى بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَشَقَّةَ السُّجُودِ عَلَيْهِمْ إِذَا تَفَرَّجُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اسْتَعِينُوا بِالرُّكَبِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِنْ حَدِيثِ اللَّيْثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُمَيٍّ، عَنْ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ أَبِي عَيَّاشٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَ هَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَأَنَّ رِوَايَةَ هَؤُلَاءِ أَصَحُّ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ اللَّيْثِ.

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   بعض صحابہ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سجدے میں دونوں ہاتھوں کو دونوں پہلوؤں سے اور پیٹ کو ران سے جدا رکھنے کی صورت میں ( تکلیف کی ) شکایت کی، تو آپ نے فرمایا: گھٹنوں سے ( ان پر ٹیک لگا کر ) مدد لے لیا کرو ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث غریب ہے، ہم سے ابوصالح کی حدیث جسے انہوں نے ابوہریرہ سے اور ابوہریرہ نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی ہے صرف اسی طریق سے ( یعنی لیث عن ابن عجلان کے طریق سے ) جانتے ہیں اور سفیان بن عیینہ اور دیگر کئی لوگوں نے یہ حدیث بطریق: «سمى عن النعمان بن أبي عياش عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم» ( اسی طرح ) روایت کی ہے، ان لوگوں کی روایت لیث کی روایت کے مقابلے میں شاید زیادہ صحیح ہے۔
