حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَوِ اتَّخَذْتَ مِنْ مَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَنَزَلَتْ وَاتَّخِذُوا مِنْ مَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى سورة البقرة آية 125 ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِي الْبَابِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ.

Urdu Translation

انس رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   عمر بن خطاب رضی الله عنہ نے کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کیا: اگر آپ مقام ابراہیم کو مصلی ( نماز پڑھنے کی جگہ ) بنا لیتے ( تو کیا ہی اچھی بات ہوتی ) تو آیت «واتخذوا من مقام إبراهيم مصلى» نازل ہوئی۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابن عمر رضی الله عنہما سے بھی روایت ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Anas: that 'Umar bin Al-Khattab [may Allah be pleased with him] said: I said: 'O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)! I wish that you could perform Salat behind the Maqam of Ibrahim.' So the following was revealed: And take you the Maqam of Ibrahim as a place of Salat.
