حَدَّثَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ فِي الْغَارِ:‏‏‏‏ لَوْ أَنَّ أَحَدَهُمْ يَنْظُرُ إِلَى قَدَمَيْهِ لَأَبْصَرَنَا تَحْتَ قَدَمَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مَا ظَنُّكَ بِاثْنَيْنِ اللَّهُ ثَالِثُهُمَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّمَا يُعْرَفُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ هَمَّامٍ تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ حَبَّانُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ، وَغَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هَمَّامٍ نَحْوَ هَذَا.

Urdu Translation

ابوبکر رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   میں اور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم دونوں جب غار میں تھے تو میں نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کہا کہ اگر ان ( کافروں ) میں سے کوئی اپنے قدموں کی طرف نظر ڈالے تو ہمیں اپنے قدموں کے نیچے ( غار میں ) دیکھ لے گا۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ”ابوبکر! تمہارا ان دو کے بارے میں کیا خیال و گمان ہے جن کا تیسرا ساتھی اللہ ہو“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح غریب ہے، ۲- ہمام کی حدیث مشہور ہے اور ہمام اس روایت میں منفرد ہیں، ۳- اس حدیث کو حبان بن ہلال اور کئی لوگوں نے اسی کے مانند ہمام سے روایت کیا ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Anas: that Abu Bakr narrated to him, he said: While were in the cave, I said to the Prophet (ﷺ): 'If one of them were to look down at his feet, then he would see us under his feet.' So he said: 'O Abu Bakr! What do you think about two, the third of whom is Allah?'
