حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ الْحَبْحَابِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِقِنَاعٍ عَلَيْهِ رُطَبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَثَلُ كَلِمَةً طَيِّبَةً كَشَجَرَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ أَصْلُهَا ثَابِتٌ وَفَرْعُهَا فِي السَّمَاءِ ‏‏‏‏ 24 ‏‏‏‏ تُؤْتِي أُكُلَهَا كُلَّ حِينٍ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهَا سورة إبراهيم آية 24 ـ 25، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ وَمَثَلُ كَلِمَةٍ خَبِيثَةٍ كَشَجَرَةٍ خَبِيثَةٍ اجْتُثَّتْ مِنْ فَوْقِ الأَرْضِ مَا لَهَا مِنْ قَرَارٍ سورة إبراهيم آية 26 قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هِيَ الْحَنْظَلُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَخْبَرْتُ بِذَلِكَ أَبَا الْعَالِيَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَدَقَ وَأَحْسَنَ.

Urdu Translation

انس بن مالک رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس ٹوکری لائی گئی جس میں تروتازہ پکی ہوئی کھجوریں تھیں، آپ نے فرمایا: «كلمة طيبة كشجرة طيبة أصلها ثابت وفرعها في السماء تؤتي أكلها كل حين بإذن ربها» ۱؎ آپ نے فرمایا: یہ کھجور کا درخت ہے، اور آیت «ومثل كلمة خبيثة كشجرة خبيثة اجتثت من فوق الأرض ما لها من قرار» ۲؎ میں برے درخت سے مراد اندرائن ہے۔ شعیب بن حبحاب ( راوی حدیث ) کہتے ہیں: میں نے اس حدیث کا ذکر ابوالعالیہ سے کیا تو انہوں نے کہا کہ انہوں نے سچ اور صحیح کہا۔

English Translation

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was brought a dish with unripe dates on it. He said: The parable of a goodly word is that of a goodly tree, whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches (reach) to the sky (14:24 & 25).' And he said: 'It is the date-palm.' And the parable of an evil tree uprooted from the surface of the earth, having no stability (14:26). He said: 'It is the colocynth tree.'
