حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَشْعَثُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ السَّمَّانُ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُظْلِمَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمْ نَدْرِ أَيْنَ الْقِبْلَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ فَصَلَّى كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنَّا عَلَى حِيَالِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْنَا ذَكَرْنَا ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَنَزَلَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَيْنَمَا تُوَلُّوا فَثَمَّ وَجْهُ اللَّهِ سورة البقرة آية 115 . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ لَيْسَ إِسْنَادُهُ بِذَاكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَشْعَثَ السَّمَّانِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَشْعَثُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ السَّمَّانُ يُضَعَّفُ فِي الْحَدِيثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ إِلَى هَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا صَلَّى فِي الْغَيْمِ لِغَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ ثُمَّ اسْتَبَانَ لَهُ بَعْدَمَا صَلَّى أَنَّهُ صَلَّى لِغَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّ صَلَاتَهُ جَائِزَةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ سفيان الثوري وَابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَحْمَدُ،‏‏‏‏ وَإِسْحَاق.

Urdu Translation

عامر بن ربیعہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ہم ایک تاریک رات میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ سفر میں تھے۔ تو ہم نہیں جان سکے کہ قبلہ کس طرف ہے، ہم میں سے ہر شخص نے اسی طرف رخ کر کے نماز پڑھ لی جس طرف پہلے سے اس کا رخ تھا۔ جب ہم نے صبح کی اور نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اس کا ذکر کیا چنانچہ اس وقت آیت کریمہ «‏فأينما تولوا فثم وجه الله‏» ”تم جس طرف رخ کر لو اللہ کا منہ اسی طرف ہے“ نازل ہوئی۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- اس حدیث کی سند کچھ زیادہ اچھی نہیں ہے۔ ہم اسے صرف اشعث بن سمان ہی کی روایت سے جانتے ہیں، اور اشعث بن سعید ابوالربیع سمان حدیث کے معاملے میں ضعیف گردانے جاتے ہیں، ۲- اکثر اہل علم اسی کی طرف گئے ہیں کہ جب کوئی بدلی میں غیر قبلہ کی طرف نماز پڑھ لے پھر نماز پڑھ لینے کے بعد پتہ چلے اس نے غیر قبلہ کی طرف رخ کر کے نماز پڑھی ہے تو اس کی نماز درست ہے۔ سفیان ثوری، ابن مبارک، احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ بھی یہی کہتے ہیں۔

English Translation

Abdullah bin Amir bin Rabi'ah narrated from his father who said: We were with the Prophet on a journey on a very dark night and we did not know the direction of the Qiblah. So each man among us prayed in his own direction. In the morning when we mentioned that to the Prophet, then the following was revealed: So where ever you turn, there is the Face of Allah.
