حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَهْلَةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ عُثْمَانُ يَوْمَ الدَّارِ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ عَهْدًا فَأَنَا صَابِرٌ عَلَيْهِ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ.

Urdu Translation

ابوسہلہ کا بیان ہے کہ   عثمان رضی الله عنہ نے مجھ سے جس دن وہ گھر میں محصور تھے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھ سے عہد لیا تھا اور میں اس عہد پر صابر یعنی قائم ہوں ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن صحیح غریب ہے، ہم اسے صرف اسماعیل بن ابی خالد کی روایت سے جانتے ہیں۔

English Translation

Narrated Abu Sahlah: The day of the house (when he was besieged), 'Uthman said: 'Indeed the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took a covenant from me, and I will abide by it.'
