Narrated A man from the Ansar: that Zaid bin Al-Arqam said: The first to accept Islam was 'Ali. 'Amr bin Murrah said: So I mentioned that to Ibrahim An-Nakha'i, so he rejected that and said: 'The first to accept Islam was Abu Bakr As-Siddiq.'

حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَرْقَمَ، يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ عَلِيٌّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ:‏‏‏‏ فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِإِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّخَعِيِّ، فَأَنْكَرَهُ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَسْلَمَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَأَبُو حَمْزَةَ اسْمُهُ:‏‏‏‏ طَلْحَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ

زید بن ارقم رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   جس نے سب سے پہلے اسلام قبول کیا وہ علی رضی الله عنہ ہیں۔ عمرو بن مرہ کہتے ہیں: میں نے اسے ابراہیم نخعی سے ذکر کیا تو انہوں نے اس کا انکار کیا اور کہا: سب سے پہلے جس نے اسلام قبول کیا وہ ابوبکر صدیق رضی الله عنہ ہیں۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے۔
