Abu Hurairah narrated: The Prophet (S) prohibited than a man to pray with his hands on his hip.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الرَّجُلُ مُخْتَصِرًا قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ كَرِهَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ الِاخْتِصَارَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَرِهَ بَعْضُهُمْ أَنْ يَمْشِيَ الرَّجُلُ مُخْتَصِرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالِاخْتِصَارُ أَنْ يَضَعَ الرَّجُلُ يَدَهُ عَلَى خَاصِرَتِهِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ أَوْ يَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ جَمِيعًا عَلَى خَاصِرَتَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيُرْوَى أَنَّ إِبْلِيسَ إِذَا مَشَى مَشَى مُخْتَصِرًا.

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کوکھ پر ہاتھ رکھ کر نماز پڑھنے سے منع فرمایا ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابن عمر رضی الله عنہما سے بھی حدیث آئی ہے، ۳- بعض اہل علم نے نماز میں کوکھ پر ہاتھ رکھنے کو مکروہ قرار دیا ہے، اور بعض نے آدمی کے کوکھ پر ہاتھ رکھ کر چلنے کو مکروہ کہا ہے، اور اختصار یہ ہے کہ آدمی نماز میں اپنا ہاتھ اپنی کوکھ پر رکھے، یا اپنے دونوں ہاتھ اپنی کوکھوں پر رکھے۔ اور روایت کی جاتی ہے کہ شیطان جب چلتا ہے تو کوکھ پر ہاتھ رکھ کر چلتا ہے۔
