Narrated Anas [may Allah be pleased with him]: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave me my Kunyah because of a plant that I used to care for.

حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ أَخْزَمَ الطَّائِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي نَصْرٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَنَّانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِبَقْلَةٍ كُنْتُ أَجْتَنِيهَا . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ جَابِرٍ الْجُعْفِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي نَصْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَبُو نَصْرٍ هُوَ خَيْثَمَةُ بْنُ أَبِي خَيْثَمَةَ الْبَصْرِيُّ رَوَى عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَحَادِيثَ.

انس رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے میری کنیت ایک ساگ ( گھاس ) کے ساتھ رکھی جسے میں چن رہا تھا۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث غریب ہے، اس حدیث کو ہم صرف جابر جعفی کی روایت سے جانتے ہیں جسے وہ ابونصر سے روایت کرتے ہیں، ۲- ابونصر کا نام خیثمہ بن ابی خیثمہ بصریٰ ہے، انہوں نے انس سے کئی حدیثیں روایت کی ہیں۔
