حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَبَةِ إِنَّكَ قَدْ صَلَّيْتَ خَلْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَعُمَرَ،‏‏‏‏ وَعُثْمَانَ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ هَا هُنَا بِالْكُوفَةِ نَحْوًا مِنْ خَمْسِ سِنِينَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَكَانُوا يَقْنُتُونَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَيْ بُنَيَّ مُحْدَثٌ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ أَكْثَرِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ سفيان الثوري:‏‏‏‏ إِنْ قَنَتَ فِي الْفَجْرِ فَحَسَنٌ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَقْنُتْ فَحَسَنٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاخْتَارَ أَنْ لَا يَقْنُتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَرَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الْقُنُوتَ فِي الْفَجْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَأَبُو مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ اسْمُهُ:‏‏‏‏ سَعْدُ بْنُ طَارِقِ بْنِ أَشْيَمَ،‏‏‏‏

Urdu Translation

ابو مالک سعد بن طارق اشجعی کہتے ہیں کہ   میں نے اپنے باپ ( طارق بن اشیم رضی الله عنہ ) سے عرض کیا: ابا جان! آپ نے رسول اللہ صلی الله علیہ وسلم، ابوبکر، عمر اور عثمان رضی الله عنہم کے پیچھے نماز پڑھی ہے اور علی رضی الله عنہ کے پیچھے بھی یہاں کوفہ میں تقریباً پانچ برس تک پڑھی ہے، کیا یہ لوگ ( برابر ) قنوت ( قنوت نازلہ ) پڑھتے تھے؟ تو انہوں نے کہا: میرے بیٹے! یہ بدعت ہے ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اکثر اہل علم کا اسی پر عمل ہے۔ اور سفیان ثوری کہتے ہیں کہ اگر فجر میں قنوت پڑھے تو بھی اچھا ہے اور اگر نہ پڑھے تو بھی اچھا ہے، ویسے انہوں نے پسند اسی بات کو کیا ہے کہ نہ پڑھے اور ابن مبارک فجر میں قنوت پڑھنے کو درست نہیں سمجھتے۔

English Translation

Abu Malik Al-Ashjai narrated: I said to my father: 'O my father! You offered Salat behind Allah's Messenger (S), Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali bin Abi Talib here in Al-Kufah for about five years. Did they say the Qunut?' He said: 'It is a newly invented matter my son.'
