حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْفُضَيْلِ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ، عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُرَشِيِّ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صُمْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ بِنَا حَتَّى بَقِيَ سَبْعٌ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَامَ بِنَا حَتَّى ذَهَبَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ لَمْ يَقُمْ بِنَا فِي السَّادِسَةِ وَقَامَ بِنَا فِي الْخَامِسَةِ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ شَطْرُ اللَّيْلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْنَا لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوْ نَفَّلْتَنَا بَقِيَّةَ لَيْلَتِنَا هَذِهِ ؟ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّهُ مَنْ قَامَ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ حَتَّى يَنْصَرِفَ كُتِبَ لَهُ قِيَامُ لَيْلَةٍ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ لَمْ يُصَلِّ بِنَا حَتَّى بَقِيَ ثَلَاثٌ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَصَلَّى بِنَا فِي الثَّالِثَةِ وَدَعَا أَهْلَهُ وَنِسَاءَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَامَ بِنَا حَتَّى تَخَوَّفْنَا الْفَلَاحَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ وَمَا الْفَلَاحُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ السُّحُورُ . قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاخْتَلَفَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ فِي قِيَامِ رَمَضَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَرَأَى بَعْضُهُمْ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ إِحْدَى وَأَرْبَعِينَ رَكْعَةً مَعَ الْوِتْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَهُمْ بِالْمَدِينَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ عَلَى مَا رُوِيَ عَنْ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعَلِيٍّ وَغَيْرِهِمَا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِشْرِينَ رَكْعَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ الثَّوْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالشَّافِعِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ:‏‏‏‏ وَهَكَذَا أَدْرَكْتُ بِبَلَدِنَا بِمَكَّةَ يُصَلُّونَ عِشْرِينَ رَكْعَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ أَحْمَدُ:‏‏‏‏ رُوِيَ فِي هَذَا أَلْوَانٌ وَلَمْ يُقْضَ فِيهِ بِشَيْءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ إِسْحَاق:‏‏‏‏ بَلْ نَخْتَارُ إِحْدَى وَأَرْبَعِينَ رَكْعَةً عَلَى مَا رُوِيَ عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاخْتَارَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحْمَدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِسْحَاق الصَّلَاةَ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاخْتَارَ الشَّافِعِيُّ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الرَّجُلُ وَحْدَهُ إِذَا كَانَ قَارِئًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالنُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ.

Urdu Translation

ابوذر رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ہم نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ صیام رمضان رکھے تو آپ نے ہمیں نماز ( تراویح ) نہیں پڑھائی، یہاں تک کہ رمضان کے صرف سات دن باقی رہ گئے تو آپ نے ہمارے ساتھ قیام کیا ( یعنی تہجد پڑھی ) یہاں تک کہ ایک تہائی رات گزر گئی۔ پھر جب چھ راتیں رہ گئیں تو آپ نے ہمارے ساتھ قیام نہیں کیا، ( یعنی تہجد نہیں پڑھی ) اور جب پانچ راتیں رہ گئیں تو آپ نے ہمارے ساتھ قیام کیا ( یعنی تہجد پڑھی ) یہاں تک کہ آدھی رات ہو گئی۔ تو ہم نے آپ سے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! اگر آپ اس رات کے باقی ماندہ حصہ میں بھی ہمیں نفل پڑھاتے رہتے ( تو بہتر ہوتا ) ؟ آپ نے فرمایا: ”جس نے امام کے ساتھ قیام کیا یہاں تک کہ وہ فارغ ہو جائے تو اس کے لیے پوری رات کا قیام لکھا جائے گا، پھر آپ نے ہمیں نماز نہیں پڑھائی، یہاں تک کہ مہینے کے صرف تین دن باقی رہ گئے، پھر آپ نے ہمیں ستائیسویں رات کو نماز پڑھائی۔ اور اپنے گھر والوں اور اپنی عورتوں کو بھی بلایا، آپ نے ہمارے ساتھ قیام کیا یہاں تک کہ ہمیں فلاح کے چھوٹ جانے کا اندیشہ ہوا۔ ( راوی کہتے ہیں ) میں نے پوچھا: فلاح کیا چیز ہے؟ تو انہوں نے کہا: سحری ہے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عائشہ، نعمان بن بشیر اور ابن عباس رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- رمضان کے قیام کے سلسلے میں اہل علم کا اختلاف ہے۔ بعض لوگوں کا خیال ہے کہ وتر کے ساتھ اکتالیس رکعتیں پڑھے گا، یہ اہل مدینہ کا قول ہے، ان کے نزدیک مدینے میں اسی پر عمل تھا، ۴- اور اکثر اہل علم ان احادیث کی بنا پر جو عمر، علی اور دوسرے صحابہ کرام رضی الله عنہم سے مروی ہے بیس رکعت کے قائل ہیں۔ یہ سفیان ثوری، ابن مبارک اور شافعی کا قول ہے۔ اور شافعی کہتے ہیں: اسی طرح سے میں نے اپنے شہر مکے میں پایا ہے کہ بیس رکعتیں پڑھتے تھے، ۵- احمد کہتے ہیں: اس سلسلے میں کئی قسم کی باتیں مروی ہیں ۱؎ انہوں نے اس سلسلے میں کوئی فیصلہ کن بات نہیں کہی، ۶- اسحاق بن راہویہ کہتے ہیں: ہمیں ابی بن کعب کی روایت کے مطابق ۴۱ رکعتیں مرغوب ہیں، ۷- ابن مبارک، احمد اور اسحاق بن راہویہ نے ماہ رمضان میں امام کے ساتھ نماز پڑھنے کو پسند کیا ہے، ۸- شافعی نے اکیلے پڑھنے کو پسند کیا ہے جب وہ قاری ہو۔

English Translation

Abu Dharr narrated: We fasted with the Prophet, so he did not pray (the night prayer) with us until seven (nights) of the month remained. Then he (pbuh) led us in prayer until a third of the night had gone, then he did not lead us in prayer on the sixth. Then he led us in prayer on the fifth until half of the night had gone. We said to him: 'O Messenger of Allah! Wouldn't you lead us in prayer for the remainder of the night?' He said: 'Indeed, whoever stands (praying) with the Imam until he finished, then it is recorded for him that he prayed the whole night.; Then he did not lead us in prayer until three (nights) of the month remained. Then he led us in prayer on the third and he called his family and his women to pray with us until we feared missing the Falah I (Jubair bin Nufair) said to him: What is the Falah He said: The Suhur.
