Baab Hiba Ke Masail Fazeelat Aur Targheeb Ka Bayan

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَعْلَمُهُمْ بِذَاكَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ إِلَى أَرْضٍ تَهْتَزُّ زَرْعًا ، فَقَالَ : لِمَنْ هَذِهِ ؟ فَقَالُوا : اكْتَرَاهَا فُلَانٌ ، فَقَالَ : أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَوْ مَنَحَهَا إِيَّاهُ كَانَ خَيْرًا لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ عَلَيْهَا أَجْرًا مَعْلُومًا .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے محمد بن بشار نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عبدالوہاب نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ایوب نے بیان کیا، ان سے عمرو نے، ان سے طاؤس نے بیان کیا کہ مجھ سے ان میں سب سے زیادہ اس (مخابرہ) کے جاننے والے نے بیان کیا، ان کی مراد ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے تھی کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک مرتبہ ایسے کھیت کی طرف تشریف لے گئے جس کی کھیتی لہلہا رہی تھی، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا ”یہ کس کا ہے؟“ صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہم نے بتلایا کہ فلاں نے اسے کرایہ پر لیا ہے۔ اس پر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”اگر وہ ہدیتاً دے دیتا تو اس سے بہتر تھا کہ اس پر ایک مقررہ اجرت وصول کرتا۔“

English Translation

Narrated Tawus: That he was told by the most learned one amongst them (i.e. Ibn `Abbas) that the Prophet went towards some land which was flourishing with vegetation and asked to whom it belonged. He was told that such and such a person took it on rent. The Prophet said, It would have been better (for the owner) if he had given it to him gratis rather than charging him a fixed rent.
