حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ سَالِمٌ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، يَقُولُ : انْطَلَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ يَؤُمَّانِ النَّخْلَ الَّتِي فِيهَا ابْنُ صَيَّادٍ ، حَتَّى إِذَا دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَفِقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَّقِي بِجُذُوعِ النَّخْلِ وَهُوَ يَخْتِلُ أَنْ يَسْمَعَ مِنْ ابْنِ صَيَّادٍ شَيْئًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَرَاهُ ، وَابْنُ صَيَّادٍ مُضْطَجِعٌ عَلَى فِرَاشِهِ فِي قَطِيفَةٍ لَهُ فِيهَا رَمْرَمَةٌ أَوْ زَمْزَمَةٌ ، فَرَأَتْ أُمُّ ابْنِ صَيَّادٍ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَتَّقِي بِجُذُوعِ النَّخْلِ ، فَقَالَتْ لِابْنِ صَيَّادٍ : أَيْ صَافِ هَذَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، فَتَنَاهَى ابْنُ صَيَّادٍ ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لَوْ تَرَكَتْهُ بَيَّنَ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے ابوالیمان نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم کو شعیب نے خبر دی زہری سے کہ سالم نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے سنا، آپ کہتے تھے کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ابی بن کعب انصاری رضی اللہ عنہ کو ساتھ لے کر کھجور کے اس باغ کی طرف تشریف لے گئے جس میں ابن صیاد تھا۔ جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم باغ میں داخل ہوئے تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم درختوں کی آڑ میں چھپ کر چلنے لگے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم چاہتے تھے کہ ابن صیاد آپ کو دیکھنے نہ پائے اور اس سے پہلے آپ اس کی باتیں سن سکیں۔ ابن صیاد ایک روئیں دار چادر میں زمین پر لیٹا ہوا تھا اور کچھ گنگنا رہا تھا۔ ابن صیاد کی ماں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو دیکھ لیا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم درخت کی آڑ لیے چلے آ رہے ہیں تو وہ کہنے لگی اے صاف! یہ محمد ( صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ) آ رہے ہیں۔ ابن صیاد ہوشیار ہو گیا۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”اگر اسے اپنے حال پر رہنے دیتی تو بات ظاہر ہو جاتی۔“

English Translation

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Allah's Apostle and Ubai bin Ka`b Al-Ansari went to the garden where Ibn Saiyad used to live. When Allah's Apostle entered (the garden), he (i.e. Allah's Apostle ) started hiding himself behind the date108 palms as he wanted to hear secretly the talk of Ibn Saiyad before the latter saw him. Ibn Saiyad wrapped with a soft decorated sheet was lying on his bed murmuring. Ibn Saiyad's mother saw the Prophet hiding behind the stems of the date-palms. She addressed Ibn Saiyad saying, O Saf, this is Muhammad. Hearing that Ibn Saiyad stopped murmuring (or got cautious), the Prophet said, If she had left him undisturbed, he would have revealed his reality. (See Hadith No. 290, Vol 4 for details)
