حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَتَبَ إِلَى قَيْصَرَ يَدْعُوهُ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَبَعَثَ بِكِتَابِهِ إِلَيْهِ مَعَ دِحْيَةَ الْكَلْبِيِّ ، وَأَمَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَدْفَعَهُ إِلَى عَظِيمِ بُصْرَى لِيَدْفَعَهُ إِلَى قَيْصَرَ وَكَانَ قَيْصَرُ لَمَّا كَشَفَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ جُنُودَ فَارِسَ مَشَى مِنْ حِمْصَ إِلَى إِيلِيَاءَ شُكْرًا لِمَا أَبْلَاهُ اللَّهُ فَلَمَّا جَاءَ قَيْصَرَ كِتَابُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : حِينَ قَرَأَهُ الْتَمِسُوا لِي هَا هُنَا أَحَدًا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ لِأَسْأَلَهُمْ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے ابراہیم بن حمزہ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے ابراہیم بن سعد نے بیان کیا، ان سے صالح بن کیسان نے، ان سے ابن شہاب نے، ان سے عبیداللہ بن عبداللہ بن عتبہ نے اور انہیں عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے خبر دی کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے قیصر کو ایک خط لکھا جس میں آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسے اسلام کی دعوت دی تھی۔ دحیہ کلبی رضی اللہ عنہ کو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مکتوب دے کر بھیجا اور انہیں حکم دیا کہ مکتوب بصریٰ کے گورنر کے حوالہ کر دیں وہ اسے قیصر تک پہنچا دے گا۔ جب فارس کی فوج ( اس کے مقابلے میں ) شکست کھا کر پیچھے ہٹ گئی تھی ( اور اس کے ملک کے مقبوضہ علاقے واپس مل گئے تھے ) تو اس انعام کے شکرانہ کے طور پر جو اللہ تعالیٰ نے ( اس کا ملک اسے واپس دے کر ) اس پر کیا تھا ابھی قیصر حمص سے ایلیاء ( بیت المقدس ) تک پیدل چل کر آیا تھا۔ جب اس کے پاس رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا نامہ مبارک پہنچا اور اس کے سامنے پڑھا گیا تو اس نے کہا کہ اگر ان کی ( نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی ) قوم کا کوئی شخص یہاں ہو تو اسے تلاش کر کے لاؤ تاکہ میں اس رسول کے متعلق اس سے کچھ سوالات کروں۔

English Translation

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Abbas: Allah's Apostle wrote to Caesar and invited him to Islam and sent him his letter with Dihya Al-Kalbi whom Allah's Apostle ordered to hand it over to the Governor of Busra who would forward it to Caesar. Caesar as a sign of gratitude to Allah, had walked from Hims to Ilya (i.e. Jerusalem) when Allah had granted Him victory over the Persian forces. So, when the letter of Allah's Apostle reached Caesar, he said after reading it, 'Seek for me any one of his people! (Arabs of Quraish tribe) if present here, in order to ask him about Allah's Apostle.
