Baab Jihad Ka Bayan

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُمَيْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مَالِكَ بْنَ أَنَسٍ ، سَأَلَ زَيْدَ بْنَ أَسْلَمَ ، فَقَالَ : زَيْدٌ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ : قَالَ : عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِرَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، حَمَلْتُ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، فَرَأَيْتُهُ يُبَاعُ ، فَسَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشْتَرِيهِ ، فَقَالَ : لَا تَشْتَرِهِ ، وَلَا تَعُدْ فِي صَدَقَتِكَ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے حمیدی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے سفیان نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ میں نے مالک بن انس سے سنا، انہوں نے زید بن اسلم سے پوچھا تھا اور زید نے کہا کہ میں نے اپنے باپ سے سنا تھا، وہ بیان کرتے تھے کہ   عمر بن خطاب رضی اللہ عنہ نے فرمایا میں نے اللہ کے راستے میں ( جہاد کے لیے ) اپنا ایک گھوڑا ایک شخص کو سواری کے لیے دے دیا تھا۔ پھر میں نے دیکھا کہ ( بازار میں ) وہی گھوڑا بک ( فروخت ہو ) رہا ہے۔ میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا کہ کیا میں اسے خرید سکتا ہوں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اس گھوڑے کو تم نہ خریدو اور اپنا صدقہ ( خواہ خرید کر ہی ہو ) واپس نہ لو۔

English Translation

Narrated `Umar bin Al-Khattab: I gave a horse to be used in Allah's Cause, but later on I saw it being sold. I asked the Prophet whether I could buy it. He said, Don't buy it and don't take back your gift of charity.
