Baab Jihad Ka Bayan

حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْيَرْبُوعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ الْفَزَارِيُّ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمٌ أَبُو النَّضْرِ مَوْلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ كُنْتُ كَاتِبًا لَهُ ، قَالَ : كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي أَوْفَى حِينَ خَرَجَ إِلَى الْحَرُورِيَّةِ فَقَرَأْتُهُ ، فَإِذَا فِيهِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَيَّامِهِ الَّتِي لَقِيَ فِيهَا الْعَدُوَّ انْتَظَرَ حَتَّى مَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے یوسف بن موسیٰ نے بیان کیا ‘ انہوں نے کہا ہم سے عاصم بن یوسف یربوعی نے بیان کیا ‘ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہم سے ابواسحاق فزاری نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے موسیٰ بن عقبہ نے بیان کیا ‘ کہ مجھ سے عمر بن عبیداللہ کے غلام سالم ابوالنضر نے بیان کیا کہ میں عمر بن عبیداللہ کا منشی تھا۔ سالم نے بیان کیا کہ   جب وہ خوارج سے لڑنے کے لیے روانہ ہوئے تو انہیں عبداللہ بن ابی اوفی رضی اللہ عنہما کا خط ملا۔ میں نے اسے پڑھا تو اس میں انہوں نے لکھا تھا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک لڑائی کے موقع پر انتظار کیا ‘ پھر جب سورج ڈھل گیا۔

English Translation

Narrated Salim Abu An-Nadr: (the freed slave of 'Umar bin 'Ubaidullah) I was Umar's clerk. Once Abdullah bin Abi Aufa wrote a letter to 'Umar when he proceeded to Al-Haruriya. I read in it that Allah's Apostle in one of his military expeditions against the enemy, waited till the sun declined.
