Narrated Nafi`: Once a slave of Ibn `Umar fled and joined the Byzantine. Khalid bin Al-Walid got him back and returned him to `Abdullah (bin `Umar). Once a horse of Ibn `Umar also ran away and followed the Byzantines, and he (i.e. Khalid) got it back and returned it to `Abdullah.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ : أَنَّ عَبْدًا لِابْنِ عُمَرَ أَبَقَ فَلَحِقَ بِالرُّومِ فَظَهَرَ عَلَيْهِ خَالِدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ فَرَدَّهُ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَأَنَّ فَرَسًا لِابْنِ عُمَرَ عَارَ فَلَحِقَ بِالرُّومِ فَظَهَرَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَرَدُّوهُ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ : عَارَ مُشْتَقٌّ مِنَ الْعَيْرِ وَهُوَ حِمَارُ وَحْشٍ أَيْ هَرَبَ .

ہم سے محمد بن بشار نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا ہم سے یحییٰ قطان نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے عبیداللہ عمری نے بیان کیا ‘ انہیں نافع نے خبر دی کہ   ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کا ایک غلام بھاگ کر روم کے کافروں میں مل گیا تھا۔ پھر خالد بن ولید رضی اللہ عنہ کی سرکردگی میں ( اسلامی لشکر نے ) اس پر فتح پائی اور خالد رضی اللہ عنہ نے وہ غلام انکو واپس کر دیا۔ اور یہ کہ عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کا ایک گھوڑا بھاگ کر روم پہنچ گیا تھا۔ خالد بن ولید رضی اللہ عنہ کو جب روم پر فتح ہوئی ‘ تو انہوں نے یہ گھوڑا بھی عبداللہ کو واپس کر دیا تھا۔
