حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، قَالَ : مَشَيْتُ أَنَا وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَعْطَيْتَ بَنِي الْمُطَّلِبِ وَتَرَكْتَنَا وَنَحْنُ وَهُمْ مِنْكَ بِمَنْزِلَةٍ وَاحِدَةٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّمَا بَنُو الْمُطَّلِبِ وَبَنُو هَاشِمٍ شَيْءٌ وَاحِدٌ ، قَالَ اللَّيْثُ : حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ وَزَادَ ، قَالَ جُبَيْرٌ : وَلَمْ يَقْسِمْ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِبَنِي عَبْدِ شَمْسٍ وَلَا لِبَنِي نَوْفَلٍ ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ : عَبْدُ شَمْسٍ وَهَاشِمٌ وَالْمُطَّلِبُ إِخْوَةٌ لِأُمٍّ وَأُمُّهُمْ عَاتِكَةُ بِنْتُ مُرَّةَ وَكَانَ نَوْفَلٌ أَخَاهُمْ لِأَبِيهِمْ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے لیث نے بیان کیا، ان سے عقیل نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابن شہاب نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابن مسیب نے بیان کیا اور ان سے جبیر بن مطعم رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ   میں اور عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور عرض کیا، یا رسول اللہ! آپ نے بنو مطلب کو تو عنایت فرمایا لیکن ہم کو چھوڑ دیا، حالانکہ ہم کو آپ سے وہی رشتہ ہے جو بنو مطلب کو آپ سے ہے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ بنو مطلب اور بنو ہاشم ایک ہی ہے۔ لیث نے بیان کیا کہ مجھ سے یونس نے بیان کیا اور ( اس روایت میں ) یہ زیادتی کی کہ جبیر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بنو عبدشمس اور بنو نوفل کو نہیں دیا تھا، اور ابن اسحاق ( صاحب مغازی ) نے کہا ہے کہ عبدشمس، ہاشم اور مطلب ایک ماں سے تھے اور ان کی ماں کا نام عاتکہ بن مرہ تھا اور نوفل باپ کی طرف سے ان کے بھائی تھے ( ان کی ماں دوسری تھیں ) ۔

English Translation

Narrated Jubair bin Mut`im: I and `Uthman bin `Affan went to Allah's Apostle and said, O Allah's Apostle! You have given to Bani Al-Muttalib and left us although they and we are of the same kinship to you. Allah's Apostle said, Bani Muttalib and Bani Hashim are one and the same. The Prophet did not give a share to Bani `Abd Shams and Bani Naufai. (Ibn 'Is-haq said, Abd Shams and Hashim and Al-Muttalib were maternal brothers and their mother was 'Atika bint Murra and Naufal was their paternal brother.)
