حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ تَمَارَى هُوَ وَالْحُرُّ بْنُ قَيْسٍ الْفَزَارِيُّ فِي صَاحِبِ مُوسَى ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : هُوَ خَضِرٌ فَمَرَّ بِهِمَا أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ ، فَدَعَاهُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي تَمَارَيْتُ أَنَا وَصَاحِبِي هَذَا فِي صَاحِبِ مُوسَى الَّذِي سَأَلَ السَّبِيلَ إِلَى لُقِيِّهِ ، هَلْ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَذْكُرُ شَأْنَهُ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : بَيْنَمَا مُوسَى فِي مَلَإٍ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : هَلْ تَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا أَعْلَمَ مِنْكَ ، قَالَ : لَا فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ إِلَى مُوسَى بَلَى عَبْدُنَا خَضِرٌ فَسَأَلَ مُوسَى السَّبِيلَ إِلَيْهِ فَجُعِلَ لَهُ الْحُوتُ آيَةً ، وَقِيلَ لَهُ : إِذَا فَقَدْتَ الْحُوتَ فَارْجِعْ فَإِنَّكَ سَتَلْقَاهُ فَكَانَ يَتْبَعُ الْحُوتِ فِي الْبَحْرِ ، فَقَالَ : لِمُوسَى فَتَاهُ أَرَأَيْتَ إِذْ أَوَيْنَا إِلَى الصَّخْرَةِ فَإِنِّي نَسِيتُ الْحُوتَ وَمَا أَنْسَانِيهِ إِلَّا الشَّيْطَانُ أَنْ أَذْكُرَهُ ، فَقَالَ مُوسَى : ذَلِكَ مَا كُنَّا نَبْغِ فَارْتَدَّا عَلَى آثَارِهِمَا قَصَصًا فَوَجَدَا خَضِرًا فَكَانَ مِنْ شَأْنِهِمَا الَّذِي قَصَّ اللَّهُ فِي كِتَابِهِ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے عمر بن محمد نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا ہم سے یعقوب بن ابراہیم نے بیان کیا ‘ کہا کہ مجھ سے میرے والد نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے صالح نے ‘ ان سے ابن شہاب نے ‘ انہیں عبیداللہ بن عبداللہ نے خبر دی اور انہیں ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہ   حر بن قیس فزاری رضی اللہ عنہ سے صاحب موسیٰ علیہ السلام کے بارے میں ان کا اختلاف ہوا۔ پھر ابی بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ وہاں سے گزرے تو عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے انہیں بلایا اور کہا کہ میرا اپنے ان ساتھی سے صاحب موسیٰ علیہ السلام کے بارے میں اختلاف ہو گیا ہے جن سے ملاقات کے لیے موسیٰ علیہ السلام نے راستہ پوچھا تھا ‘ کیا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے آپ نے ان کے بارے میں کچھ سنا ہے؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ جی ہاں ‘ میں نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ فرماتے سنا تھا کہ موسیٰ علیہ السلام بنی اسرائیل کی ایک جماعت میں تشریف رکھتے تھے کہ ایک شخص نے ان سے پوچھا ‘ کیا آپ کسی ایسے شخص کو جانتے ہیں جو اس تمام زمین پر آپ سے زیادہ علم رکھنے والا ہو؟ انہوں نے فرمایا کہ نہیں۔ اس پر اللہ تعالیٰ نے موسیٰ علیہ السلام پر وحی نازل کی کہ کیوں نہیں ‘ ہمارا بندہ خضر ہے۔ موسیٰ علیہ السلام نے ان تک پہنچنے کا راستہ پوچھا تو انہیں مچھلی کو اس کی نشانی کے طور پر بتایا گیا اور کہا گیا کہ جب مچھلی گم ہو جائے ( تو جہاں گم ہوئی ہو وہاں ) واپس آ جانا وہیں ان سے ملاقات ہو گی۔ چنانچہ موسیٰ علیہ السلام دریا میں ( سفر کے دوران ) مچھلی کی برابر نگرانی کرتے رہے۔ پھر ان سے ان کے رفیق سفر نے کہا کہ آپ نے خیال نہیں کیا جب ہم چٹان کے پاس ٹھہرے تو میں مچھلی کے متعلق آپ کو بتانا بھول گیا تھا اور مجھے شیطان نے اسے یاد رکھنے سے غافل رکھا۔ موسیٰ علیہ السلام نے فرمایا کہ اسی کی تو ہمیں تلاش ہے چنانچہ یہ بزرگ اسی راستے سے پیچھے کی طرف لوٹے اور خضر علیہ السلام سے ملاقات ہوئی ان دونوں کے ہی وہ حالات ہیں جنہیں اللہ تعالیٰ کی کتاب میں بیان فرمایا ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: That he differed with Al-Hur bin Qais Al-Fazari regarding the companion of Moses. Ibn `Abbas said that he was Al-Khadir. Meanwhile Ubai bin Ka`b passed by them and Ibn `Abbas called him saying, My friend and I have differed regarding Moses' companion whom Moses asked the way to meet. Have you heard Allah's Apostle mentioning something about him? He said, Yes, I heard Allah's Apostle saying, 'While Moses was sitting in the company of some Israelites, a man came and asked (him), 'Do you know anyone who is more learned than you?' Moses replied, 'No.' So, Allah sent the Divine Inspiration to Moses: 'Yes, Our slave, Khadir (is more learned than you).' Moses asked how to meet him (i.e. Khadir). So, the fish, was made, as a sign for him, and he was told that when the fish was lost, he should return and there he would meet him. So, Moses went on looking for the sign of the fish in the sea. The servant boy of Moses said to him, 'Do you know that when we were sitting by the side of the rock, I forgot the fish, and t was only Satan who made me forget to tell (you) about it.' Moses said, That was what we were seeking after,' and both of them returned, following their footmarks and found Khadir; and what happened further to them, is mentioned in Allah's Book.
