Baab Nabi Saw Ke Ashaab Ki Fazeelat

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ هُوَ ابْنُ مَوْهَبٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِصْرَ حَجَّ الْبَيْتَ فَرَأَى قَوْمًا جُلُوسًا ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ الْقَوْمُ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : هَؤُلَاءِ قُرَيْشٌ ، قَالَ : فَمَنِ الشَّيْخُ فِيهِمْ ؟ قَالُوا : عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : يَا ابْنَ عُمَرَ إِنِّي سَائِلُكَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ فَحَدِّثْنِي هَلْ تَعْلَمُ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ فَرَّ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ , قَالَ : تَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ تَغَيَّبَ عَنْ بَدْرٍ وَلَمْ يَشْهَدْ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : تَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ تَغَيَّبَ عَنْ بَيْعَةِ الرِّضْوَانِ فَلَمْ يَشْهَدْهَا ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : تَعَالَ أُبَيِّنْ لَكَ أَمَّا فِرَارُهُ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَفَا عَنْهُ وَغَفَرَ لَهُ , وَأَمَّا تَغَيُّبُهُ عَنْ بَدْرٍ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَتْ تَحْتَهُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَتْ مَرِيضَةً ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : إِنَّ لَكَ أَجْرَ رَجُلٍ مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا وَسَهْمَهُ , وَأَمَّا تَغَيُّبُهُ عَنْ بَيْعَةِ الرِّضْوَانِ فَلَوْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ أَعَزَّ بِبَطْنِ مَكَّةَ مِنْ عُثْمَانَ لَبَعَثَهُ مَكَانَهُ فَبَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عُثْمَانَ وَكَانَتْ بَيْعَةُ الرِّضْوَانِ بَعْدَ مَا ذَهَبَ عُثْمَانُ إِلَى مَكَّةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : بِيَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى هَذِهِ يَدُ عُثْمَانَ فَضَرَبَ بِهَا عَلَى يَدِهِ ، فَقَالَ : هَذِهِ لِعُثْمَانَ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ: اذْهَبْ بِهَا الْآنَ مَعَكَ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے موسیٰ بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ابوعوانہ نے، کہا ہم سے عثمان بن موہب نے بیان کیا کہ مصر والوں میں سے ایک نام نامعلوم آدمی آیا اور حج بیت اللہ کیا، پھر کچھ لوگوں کو بیٹھے ہوئے دیکھا تو اس نے پوچھا کہ یہ کون لوگ ہیں؟ کسی نے کہا کہ یہ قریشی ہیں۔ اس نے پوچھا کہ ان میں بزرگ کون صاحب ہیں؟ لوگوں نے بتایا کہ یہ عبداللہ بن عمر ہیں۔ اس نے پوچھا۔ اے ابن عمر! میں آپ سے ایک بات پوچھنا چاہتا ہوں۔ امید ہے کہ آپ مجھے بتائیں گے۔ کیا آپ کو معلوم ہے کہ عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے احد کی لڑائی سے راہ فرار اختیار کی تھی؟ ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے فرمایا کہ ہاں ایسا ہوا تھا۔ پھر انہوں نے پوچھا: کیا آپ کو معلوم ہے کہ وہ بدر کی لڑائی میں شریک نہیں ہوئے تھے؟ جواب دیا کہ ہاں ایسا ہوا تھا۔ اس نے پوچھا کیا آپ کو معلوم ہے کہ وہ بیعت رضوان میں بھی شریک نہیں تھے۔ جواب دیا کہ ہاں یہ بھی صحیح ہے۔ یہ سن کر اس کی زبان سے نکلا اللہ اکبر تو ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے کہا کہ قریب آ جاؤ، اب میں تمہیں ان واقعات کی تفصیل سمجھاؤں گا۔ احد کی لڑائی سے فرار کے متعلق میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے انہیں معاف کر دیا ہے۔ بدر کی لڑائی میں شریک نہ ہونے کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ ان کے نکاح میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی صاحبزادی تھیں اور اس وقت وہ بیمار تھیں اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا تھا کہ تمہیں ( مریضہ کے پاس ٹھہرنے کا ) اتنا ہی اجر و ثواب ملے گا جتنا اس شخص کو جو بدر کی لڑائی میں شریک ہو گا اور اسی کے مطابق مال غنیمت سے حصہ بھی ملے گا اور بیعت رضوان میں شریک نہ ہونے کی وجہ یہ ہے کہ اس موقع پر وادی مکہ میں کوئی بھی شخص ( مسلمانوں میں سے ) عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ سے زیادہ عزت والا اور بااثر ہوتا تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اسی کو ان کی جگہ وہاں بھیجتے، یہی وجہ ہوئی تھی کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے انہیں ( قریش سے باتیں کرنے کے لیے ) مکہ بھیج دیا تھا اور جب بیعت رضوان ہو رہی تھی تو عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ مکہ جا چکے تھے، اس موقع پر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے داہنے ہاتھ کو اٹھا کر فرمایا تھا کہ یہ عثمان کا ہاتھ ہے اور پھر اسے اپنے دوسرے ہاتھ پر ہاتھ رکھ کر فرمایا تھا کہ یہ بیعت عثمان کی طرف سے ہے۔ اس کے بعد ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے سوال کرنے والے شخص سے فرمایا کہ جا، ان باتوں کو ہمیشہ یاد رکھنا۔ ہم سے مسدد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے یحییٰ نے بیان کیا، ان سے سعید نے، ان سے قتادہ نے اور ان سے انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جب احد پہاڑ پر چڑھے اور آپ کے ساتھ ابوبکر، عمر اور عثمان رضی اللہ عنہم بھی تھے تو پہاڑ کانپنے لگا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس پر فرمایا احد ٹھہر جا میرا خیال ہے کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اسے اپنے پاؤں سے مارا بھی تھا کہ تجھ پر ایک نبی، ایک صدیق اور دو شہید ہی تو ہیں۔

English Translation

Narrated `Uthman: (the son of Muhib) An Egyptian who came and performed the Hajj to the Ka`ba saw some people sitting. He enquire, Who are these people? Somebody said, They are the tribe of Quraish. He said, Who is the old man sitting amongst them? The people replied, He is `Abdullah bin `Umar. He said, O Ibn `Umar! I want to ask you about something; please tell me about it. Do you know that `Uthman fled away on the day (of the battle) of Uhud? Ibn `Umar said, Yes. The (Egyptian) man said, Do you know that `Uthman was absent on the day (of the battle) of Badr and did not join it? Ibn `Umar said, Yes. The man said, Do you know that he failed to attend the Ar Ridwan pledge and did not witness it (i.e. Hudaibiya pledge of allegiance)? Ibn `Umar said, Yes. The man said, Allahu Akbar! Ibn `Umar said, Let me explain to you (all these three things). As for his flight on the day of Uhud, I testify that Allah has excused him and forgiven him; and as for his absence from the battle of Badr, it was due to the fact that the daughter of Allah's Apostle was his wife and she was sick then. Allah's Apostle said to him, You will receive the same reward and share (of the booty) as anyone of those who participated in the battle of Badr (if you stay with her).' As for his absence from the Ar-Ridwan pledge of allegiance, had there been any person in Mecca more respectable than `Uthman (to be sent as a representative). Allah's Apostle would have sent him instead of him. No doubt, Allah's Apostle had sent him, and the incident of the Ar-Ridwan pledge of Allegiance happened after `Uthman had gone to Mecca. Allah's Apostle held out his right hand saying, 'This is `Uthman's hand.' He stroke his (other) hand with it saying, 'This (pledge of allegiance) is on the behalf of `Uthman.' Then Ibn `Umar said to the man, 'Bear (these) excuses in mind with you.'
