Baab Nabi Saw Ke Ashaab Ki Fazeelat

حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي , سَمِعْتُ مَرْوَانَ ، كُنْتُ عِنْدَ عُثْمَانَ أَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ ، فَقَالَ : اسْتَخْلِفْ ، قَالَ : وَقِيلَ ذَاكَ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ الزُّبَيْرُ ، قَالَ : أَمَا وَاللَّهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّهُ خَيْرُكُمْ ثَلَاثًا .

Urdu Translation

مجھ سے عبید بن اسماعیل نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے اسامہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے ہشام نے، انہیں ان کے والد نے خبر دی کہ میں نے مروان سے سنا کہ   میں عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ کی خدمت میں موجود تھا کہ اتنے میں ایک صاحب آئے اور کہا کہ کسی کو آپ اپنا خلیفہ بنا دیجئیے،۔ آپ نے دریافت فرمایا کیا اس کی خواہش کی جا رہی ہے؟ انہوں نے بتایا کہ جی ہاں، زبیر رضی اللہ عنہ کی طرف لوگوں کا رجحان ہے، آپ نے اس پر فرمایا ٹھیک ہے، تم کو بھی معلوم ہے کہ وہ تم میں بہتر ہیں، آپ نے تین مرتبہ یہ بات دہرائی۔

English Translation

Narrated Marwan bin Al-Hakam: While I was with `Uthman, a man came to him and said, Appoint your successor. `Uthman said, Has such successor been named? He replied, Yes, Az-Zubair. `Uthman said, thrice, By Allah! Indeed you know that he is the best of you.
