Baab Nabi Saw Ke Ashaab Ki Fazeelat

ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ : ذَهَبْتُ أَسْأَلُ الزُّهْرِيَّ عَنْ حَدِيثِ الْمَخْزُومِيَّةِ فَصَاحَ بِي ، قُلْتُ لِسُفْيَانَ : فَلَمْ تَحْتَمِلْهُ عَنْ أَحَدٍ ، قَالَ : وَجَدْتُهُ فِي كِتَابٍ كَانَ كَتَبَهُ أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي مَخْزُومٍ سَرَقَتْ ، فَقَالُوا : مَنْ يُكَلِّمُ فِيهَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمْ يَجْتَرِئْ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يُكَلِّمَهُ , فَكَلَّمَهُ أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ كَانَ إِذَا سَرَقَ فِيهِمُ الشَّرِيفُ تَرَكُوهُ وَإِذَا سَرَقَ فِيهِمُ الضَّعِيفُ قَطَعُوهُ , لَوْ كَانَتْ فَاطِمَةُ لَقَطَعْتُ يَدَهَا .

Urdu Translation

(دوسری سند) اور ہم سے علی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے سفیان نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا کہ   میں نے زہری سے مخزومیہ کی حدیث پوچھی تو وہ مجھ پر بہت غصہ ہو گئے۔ میں نے اس پر سفیان سے پوچھا کہ پھر آپ نے کسی اور ذریعہ سے اس حدیث کی روایت نہیں کی؟ انہوں نے بیان کیا کہ ایوب بن موسیٰ کی لکھی ہوئی ایک کتاب میں، میں نے یہ حدیث دیکھی۔ وہ زہری سے روایت کرتے تھے، وہ عروہ سے، وہ عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے کہ بنی مخزوم کی ایک عورت نے چوری کر لی تھی۔ قریش نے ( اپنی مجلس میں ) سوچا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں اس عورت کی سفارش کے لیے کون جا سکتا ہے؟ کوئی اس کی جرات نہیں کر سکا، آخر اسامہ بن زید رضی اللہ عنہما نے سفارش کی تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ بنی اسرائیل میں یہ دستور ہو گیا تھا کہ جب کوئی شریف آدمی چوری کرتا تو اسے چھوڑ دیتے اور اگر کوئی کمزور آدمی چوری کرتا تو اس کا ہاتھ کاٹتے۔ اگر آج فاطمہ ( رضی اللہ عنہا ) نے چوری کی ہوتی تو میں اس کا بھی ہاتھ کاٹتا۔

English Translation

Aisha said, A woman from Bani Makhzumiya committed a theft and the people said, 'Who can intercede with the Prophet for her?' So nobody dared speak to him (i.e. the Prophet) but Usama bin Zaid spoke to him. The Prophet said, 'If a reputable man amongst the children of Bani Israel committed a theft, they used to forgive him, but if a poor man committed a theft, they would cut his hand. But I would cut even the hand of Fatima (i.e. the daughter of the Prophet) if she committed a theft.
