أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ فِي الزُّبَيْرِ ثَلَاثُ ضَرَبَاتٍ بِالسَّيْفِ إِحْدَاهُنَّ فِي عَاتِقِهِ ، قَالَ : إِنْ كُنْتُ لَأُدْخِلُ أَصَابِعِي فِيهَا ، قَالَ : ضُرِبَ ثِنْتَيْنِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ وَوَاحِدَةً يَوْمَ الْيَرْمُوكِ ، قَالَ : عُرْوَةُ ، وَقَالَ لِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ حِينَ قُتِلَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ : يَا عُرْوَةُ ، هَلْ تَعْرِفُ سَيْفَ الزُّبَيْرِ ؟ قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : فَمَا فِيهِ ؟ قُلْتُ : فِيهِ فَلَّةٌ فُلَّهَا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ، قَالَ : صَدَقْتَ , بِهِنَّ فُلُولٌ مِنْ قِرَاعِ الْكَتَائِبِ , ثُمَّ رَدَّهُ عَلَى عُرْوَةَ ، قَالَ هِشَامٌ : فَأَقَمْنَاهُ بَيْنَنَا ثَلَاثَةَ آلَافٍ , وَأَخَذَهُ بَعْضُنَا وَلَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ أَخَذْتُهُ .

Urdu Translation

مجھے ابراہیم بن موسیٰ نے خبر دی، کہا ہم سے ہشام بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، ان سے معمر نے، ان سے ہشام نے، ان سے عروہ نے بیان کیا کہ   زبیر رضی اللہ عنہ کے جسم پر تلوار کے تین ( گہرے ) زخموں کے نشانات تھے۔ ایک ان کے مونڈھے پر تھا ( اور اتنا گہرا تھا ) کہ میں بچپن میں اپنی انگلیاں ان میں داخل کر دیا کرتا تھا۔ عروہ نے بیان کیا کہ ان میں سے دو زخم بدر کی لڑائی میں آئے تھے اور ایک جنگ یرموک میں۔ عروہ نے بیان کیا کہ جب عبداللہ بن زبیر رضی اللہ عنہ کو ( حجاج ظالم کے ہاتھوں سے ) شہید کر دیا گیا تو مجھ سے عبدالملک بن مروان نے کہا: اے عروہ! کیا زبیر رضی اللہ عنہ کی تلوار تم پہچانتے ہو؟ میں نے کہا کہ ہاں، پہچانتا ہوں۔ اس نے پوچھا اس کی نشانی بتاؤ؟ میں نے کہا کہ بدر کی لڑائی کے موقع پر اس کی دھار کا ایک حصہ ٹوٹ گیا تھا، جو ابھی تک اس میں باقی ہے۔ عبدالملک نے کہا کہ تم نے سچ کہا ( پھر اس نے نابغہ شاعر کا یہ مصرع پڑھا ) فوجوں کے ساتھ لڑتے لڑتے ان کی تلوارں کی دھاریں کی جگہ سے ٹوٹ گی ہیں“ پھر عبدالملک نے وہ تلوار عروہ کو واپس کر دی ‘ ہشام نے بیان کیا کہ ہمارا اندازہ تھا کہ اس تلوار کی قیمت تین ہزار درہم تھی۔ وہ تلوار ہمارے ایک عزیز ( عثمان بن عروہ ) نے قیمت دے کر لے لی تھی میری بڑی آرزو تھی کہ کاش! وہ تلوار میرے حصے میں آتی۔

English Translation

Narrated 'Urwa (the son of Az- Zubair): Az-Zubair had three scars caused by the sword, one of which was over his shoulder and I used to insert my fingers in it. He received two of those wounds on the day of Badr and one on the day of Al-Yarmuk. When 'Abdullah bin Zubair was killed, 'Abdul-Malik bin Marwan said to me, O 'Urwa, do you recognize the sword of Az-Zubair? I said, Yes. He said, What marks does it have? I replied, It has a dent in its sharp edge which was caused in it on the day of Badr. 'Abdul- Malik said, You are right! (i.e. their swords) have dents because of clashing with the regiments of the enemies Then 'Abdul-Malik returned that sword to me (i.e. Urwa). (Hisham, 'Urwa's son said, We estimated the price of the sword as three-thousand (Dinars) and after that it was taken by one of us (i.e. the inheritors) and I wish I could have had it. )
