حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَرْمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ نَشِيطٍ وَكَانَ فِي مَوْضِعٍ آخَرَ اسْمُهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، قَالَ : بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ مُسَيْلِمَةَ الْكَذَّابَ قَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ ، فَنَزَلَ فِي دَارِ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ ، وَكَانَ تَحْتَهُ بِنْتُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ كُرَيْزٍ وَهِيَ أُمُّ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ ، فَأَتَاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعَهُ ثَابِتُ بْنُ قَيْسِ بْنِ شَمَّاسٍ وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُقَالُ لَهُ : خَطِيبُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَفِي يَدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَضِيبٌ ، فَوَقَفَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَكَلَّمَهُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ مُسَيْلِمَةُ : إِنْ شِئْتَ خَلَّيْتَ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ الْأَمْرِ ثُمَّ جَعَلْتَهُ لَنَا بَعْدَكَ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لَوْ سَأَلْتَنِي هَذَا الْقَضِيبَ مَا أَعْطَيْتُكَهُ ، وَإِنِّي لَأَرَاكَ الَّذِي أُرِيتُ فِيهِ مَا أُرِيتُ ، وَهَذَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ وَسَيُجِيبُكَ عَنِّي ، فَانْصَرَفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے سعید بن محمد جرمی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے یعقوب بن ابراہیم نے بیان کیا، کہا مجھ سے ان کے والد ابراہیم بن سعد نے، ان سے صالح بن کیسان نے، ان سے ابن عبیدہ بن نشیط نے، دوسرے موقع پر (ابن عبیدہ رضی اللہ عنہ) کے نام کی تصریح ہے یعنی عبداللہ اور ان سے عبیداللہ بن عبداللہ بن عتبہ نے بیان کیا کہ   ہمیں معلوم ہے کہ جب مسیلمہ کذاب مدینہ آیا تو بنت حارث کے گھر اس نے قیام کیا، کیونکہ بنت حارث بن کریز اس کی بیوی تھی۔ یہی عبداللہ بن عبداللہ بن دعامر کی ماں ہے، پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس کے یہاں تشریف لائے ( تبلیغ کے لیے ) آپ کے ساتھ ثابت بن قیس بن شماس رضی اللہ عنہ بھی تھے۔ ثابت رضی اللہ عنہ وہی ہیں جو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے خطیب کے نام سے مشہور تھے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ہاتھ میں ایک چھڑی تھی۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اس کے پاس آ کر ٹھہر گئے اور اس سے گفتگو کی اور اسے اسلام کی دعوت دی۔ مسیلمہ نے کہا کہ میں اس شرط پر مسلمان ہوتا ہوں کہ آپ کے بعد مجھ کو حکومت ملے۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اگر تم مجھ سے یہ چھڑی مانگو گے تو میں یہ بھی نہیں دے سکتا اور میں تو سمجھتا ہوں کہ تم وہی ہو جو مجھے خواب میں دکھائے گئے تھے۔ یہ ثابت بن قیس رضی اللہ عنہ ہیں اور میری طرف سے تمہاری باتوں کا یہی جواب دیں گے، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم واپس تشریف لے آئے۔

English Translation

Narrated Ubaidullah bin `Abdullah bin `Utba: We were informed that Musailima Al-Kadhdhab had arrived in Medina and stayed in the house of the daughter of Al-Harith. The daughter of Al-Harith bin Kuraiz was his wife and she was the mother of `Abdullah bin 'Amir. There came to him Allah's Apostle accompanied by Thabit bin Qais bin Shammas who was called the orator of Allah's Apostle. Allah's Apostle had a stick in his hand then. The Prophet stopped before Musailima and spoke to him. Musailima said to him, If you wish, we would not interfere between you and the rule, on condition that the rule will be ours after you... The Prophet said, If you asked me for this stick, I would not give it to you. I think you are the same person who was shown to me in a dream. And this is Thabit bin Al-Qais who will answer you on my behalf.
