Sahih Bukhari 462

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet sent some horsemen to Najd and they brought a man called Thumama bin Uthal from Bani Hanifa. They fastened him to one of the pillars of the mosque. The Prophet came and ordered them to release him. He went to a (garden of) date-palms near the mosque, took a bath and entered the, mosque again and said, None has the right to be worshipped but Allah an Muhammad is His Apostle (i.e. he embraced Islam).

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْلًا قِبَلَ نَجْدٍ ، فَجَاءَتْ بِرَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي حَنِيفَةَ يُقَالُ لَهُ ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ أُثَالٍ ، فَرَبَطُوهُ بِسَارِيَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : أَطْلِقُوا ثُمَامَةَ ، فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى نَخْلٍ قَرِيبٍ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ فَاغْتَسَلَ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ ، فَقَالَ : أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ .

ہم سے عبداللہ بن یوسف نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے لیث بن سعد نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا مجھ سے سعید بن ابی سعید مقبری نے، انہوں نے ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے سنا کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کچھ سوار نجد کی طرف بھیجے ( جو تعداد میں تیس تھے ) یہ لوگ بنو حنیفہ کے ایک شخص کو جس کا نام ثمامہ بن اثال تھا پکڑ کر لائے۔ انہوں نے اسے مسجد کے ایک ستون میں باندھ دیا۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تشریف لائے۔ اور ( تیسرے روز ثمامہ کی نیک طبیعت دیکھ کر ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ ثمامہ کو چھوڑ دو۔ ( رہائی کے بعد ) وہ مسجد نبوی سے قریب ایک کھجور کے باغ تک گئے۔ اور وہاں غسل کیا۔ پھر مسجد میں داخل ہوئے اور کہا «أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله وأن محمدا رسول الله‏» میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں اور یہ کہ محمد اللہ کے سچے رسول ہیں۔
