حَدَّثَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْجُوَيْرِيَةِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : كَانَ قَوْمٌ يَسْأَلُونَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اسْتِهْزَاءً ، فَيَقُولُ الرَّجُل : مَنْ أَبِي ؟ وَيَقُولُ الرَّجُلُ : تَضِلُّ نَاقَتُهُ ، أَيْنَ نَاقَتِي ؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِيهِمْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ إِنْ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ سورة المائدة آية 101 حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنَ الْآيَةِ كُلِّهَا .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے فضل بن سہل نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ابوالنضر نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ابوخیثمہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے ابوجویریہ نے بیان کیا اور ان سے ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ   بعض لوگ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے مذاقاً سوالات کیا کرتے تھے۔ کوئی شخص یوں پوچھتا کہ میرا باپ کون ہے؟ کسی کی اگر اونٹنی گم ہو جاتی تو وہ یہ پوچھتے کہ میری اونٹنی کہاں ہو گی؟ ایسے ہی لوگوں کے لیے اللہ تعالیٰ نے یہ آیت نازل کی «يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تسألوا عن أشياء إن تبد لكم تسؤكم‏» کہ ”اے ایمان والو! ایسی باتیں مت پوچھو کہ اگر تم پر ظاہر کر دی جائیں تو تمہیں ناگوار گزرے۔“ یہاں تک کہ پوری آیت پڑھ کر سنائی۔

English Translation

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Some people were asking Allah's Messenger questions mockingly. A man would say, Who is my father? Another man whose she-camel had gone astray would say, Where is my she-camel? So Allah revealed this Verse in this connection: O you who believe! Ask not about things which, if made plain to you, may cause you trouble. (5.101)
