حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَيَانٌ ، أَنَّ وَبَرَةَ حَدَّثَهُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا أَوْ إِلَيْنَا ابْنُ عُمَرَ ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : كَيْفَ تَرَى فِي قِتَالِ الْفِتْنَةِ ؟ فَقَالَ : وَهَلْ تَدْرِي مَا الْفِتْنَةُ ؟ كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُقَاتِلُ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ، وَكَانَ الدُّخُولُ عَلَيْهِمْ فِتْنَةً ، وَلَيْسَ كَقِتَالِكُمْ عَلَى الْمُلْكِ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے احمد بن یونس نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے زہیر نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے بیان نے بیان کیا، ان سے وبرہ نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ مجھ سے سعید بن جبیر نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما ہمارے پاس تشریف لائے، تو ایک صاحب نے ان سے پوچھا کہ   ( مسلمانوں کے باہمی ) فتنہ اور جنگ کے بارے میں آپ کی کیا رائے ہے؟ ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے ان سے پوچھا تمہیں معلوم بھی ہے ”فتنہ“ کیا چیز ہے۔ محمد صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مشرکین سے جنگ کرتے تھے اور ان میں ٹھہر جانا ہی فتنہ تھا۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی جنگ تمہاری ملک و سلطنت کی خاطر جنگ کی طرح نہیں تھی۔

English Translation

Narrated Sa`id bin Jubair: Ibn `Umar came to us and a man said (to him), What do you think about 'Qit-alal-Fitnah' (fighting caused by afflictions). Ibn `Umar said (to him), And do you understand what an affliction is? Muhammad used to fight against the pagans, and his fighting with them was an affliction, (and his fighting was) not like your fighting which is carried on for the sake of ruling.
