حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَعْلَى ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ : وَنَادَوْا يَا مَالِكُ لِيَقْضِ عَلَيْنَا رَبُّكَ سورة الزخرف آية 77 ، وَقَالَ قَتَادَةُ : مَثَلًا لِلْآخِرِينَ عِظَةً لِمَنْ بَعْدَهُمْ ، وَقَالَ غَيْرُهُ : مُقْرِنِينَ : ضَابِطِينَ ، يُقَالُ فُلَانٌ مُقْرِنٌ لِفُلَانٍ ضَابِطٌ لَهُ وَالْأَكْوَابُ الْأَبَارِيقُ الَّتِي لَا خَرَاطِيمَ لَهَا ، أَوَّلُ الْعَابِدِينَ : أَيْ مَا كَانَ فَأَنَا أَوَّلُ الْآنِفِينَ وَهُمَا لُغَتَانِ رَجُلٌ عَابِدٌ وَعَبِدٌ وَقَرَأَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : وَقَالَ الرَّسُولُ يَا رَبِّ ، وَيُقَالُ أَوَّلُ الْعَابِدِينَ الْجَاحِدِينَ مِنْ عَبِدَ يَعْبَدُ ، وَقَالَ قَتَادَةُ : فِي أُمِّ الْكِتَابِ جُمْلَةِ الْكِتَابِ أَصْلِ الْكِتَابِ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے حجاج بن منہال نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے سفیان بن عیینہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے عمرو نے، ان سے عطاء نے، ان سے صفوان بن یعلیٰ نے اور ان سے ان کے والد نے کہ   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو منبر پر یہ آیت پڑھتے سنا «ونادوا يا مالك ليقض علينا ربك‏» ”اور یہ لوگ پکاریں گے کہ اے مالک! تمہارا پروردگار ہمارا کام ہی تمام کر دے۔“ اور قتادہ نے کہا «مثلا للآخرين» یعنی پچھلوں کے لیے نصیحت۔ دوسرے نے کہا «مقرنين‏» کا معنی قابو میں رکھنے والے۔ عرب لوگ کہتے ہیں فلانا فلانے کا «مقرن» ہے یعنی اس پر اختیار رکھتا ہے ( اس کو قابو میں لایا ہے ) ۔ «أكواب» وہ کوزے جن میں ٹونٹی نہ ہو بلکہ منہ کھلا ہوا ہو جہاں سے آدمی چاہے پئے۔ «ان کان للرحمن ولد» کا معنی یہ ہے کہ اس کی کوئی اولاد نہیں ہے۔ ( اس صورت میں «ان نافيه» ہے ) «عابدين» سے «آنفين» مراد ہے۔ یعنی سب سے پہلے میں اس سے «عار» کرتا ہوں۔ اس میں دو لغت ہیں «عابد وعبد» اور عبداللہ بن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے اس کو «وقال الرسول يا رب‏» پڑھا ہے۔ «أول العابدين» کے معنی سب سے پہلا انکار کرنے والا یعنی اگر خدا کی اولاد ثابت کرتے ہو تو میں اس کا سب سے پہلا انکاری ہوں۔ اس صورت میں «عابدين» باب «عبد يعبد‏.‏» سے آئے گا اور قتادہ نے کہا «في أم الكتاب‏» کا معنی یہ ہے کہ مجموعی کتاب اور اصل کتاب ( یعنی لوح محفوظ میں ) ۔

English Translation

Narrated Ya`la: I heard the Prophet reciting when on the pulpit: 'They will cry, O Malik (Keeper of Hell) Let your Lord make an end of us.' (43.77)
