حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قَالَتْ : بَايَعْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَرَأَ عَلَيْنَا : أَنْ لا يُشْرِكْنَ بِاللَّهِ شَيْئًا سورة الممتحنة آية 12 ، وَنَهَانَا عَنِ النِّيَاحَةِ ، فَقَبَضَتِ امْرَأَةٌ يَدَهَا ، فَقَالَتْ : أَسْعَدَتْنِي فُلَانَةُ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَجْزِيَهَا ، فَمَا قَالَ لَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا ، فَانْطَلَقَتْ ، وَرَجَعَتْ ، فَبَايَعَهَا .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے ابومعمر نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے عبدالوارث نے، کہا ہم سے ایوب نے، ان سے حفصہ بنت سیرین نے اور ان سے ام عطیہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے بیان کیا کہ   ہم نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے بیعت کی تو آپ نے ہمارے سامنے اس آیت کی تلاوت کی «أن لا يشركن بالله شيئا‏» کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ کریں گی اور ہمیں نوحہ ( یعنی میت پر زور زور سے رونا پیٹنا ) کرنے سے منع فرمایا۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی اس ممانعت پر ایک عورت ( خود ام عطیہ رضی اللہ عنہا ) نے اپنا ہاتھ کھینچ لیا اور عرض کیا کہ فلاں عورت نے نوحہ میں میری مدد کی تھی، میں چاہتی ہوں کہ اس کا بدلہ چکا آؤں نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس کا کوئی جواب نہیں دیا چنانچہ وہ گئیں اور پھر دوبارہ آ کر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے بیعت کی۔

English Translation

Narrated Um Atiya: We took the oath of allegiance to Allah's Messenger and he recited to us: 'They will not associate anything in worship with Allah,' and forbade us to bewail the dead. Thereupon a lady withdrew her hand (refrained from taking the oath of allegiance), and said, But such-and-such lady lamented over one of my relatives, so I must reward (do the same over the dead relatives of) hers. The Prophet did not object to that, so she went (there) and returned to the Prophet so he accepted her pledge of allegiance.
