حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، قَالَ عَلِيٌّ هُوَ الْإِسْكَافُ : عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : مَا عَلِمْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَكَلَ عَلَى سُكْرُجَةٍ قَطُّ وَلَا خُبِزَ لَهُ مُرَقَّقٌ قَطُّ وَلَا أَكَلَ عَلَى خِوَانٍ قَطُّ ، قِيلَ لِقَتَادَةَ : فَعَلَى مَا كَانُوا يَأْكُلُونَ ؟ قَالَ : عَلَى السُّفَرِ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے علی بن عبداللہ مدینی نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے معاذ بن ہشام نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ مجھ سے میرے والد نے بیان کیا، ان سے یونس نے، علی بن عبداللہ المدینی نے کہا کہ یہ یونس اسکاف ہیں (نہ کہ یونس بن عبید بصریٰ) ان سے قتادہ نے اور ان سے انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ   میں نہیں جانتا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کبھی تشتری رکھ کر ( ایک وقت مختلف قسم کا ) کھانا کھایا ہو اور نہ کبھی آپ نے پتلی روٹیاں ( چپاتیاں ) کھائیں اور نہ کبھی آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے میز پر کھایا۔ قتادہ سے پوچھا گیا کہ پھر کس چیز پر آپ کھاتے تھے؟ کہا کہ آپ سفرہ ( عام دستر خوان ) پر کھانا کھایا کرتے تھے۔

English Translation

Narrated Anas: To the best of my knowledge, the Prophet did not take his meals in a big tray at all, nor did he ever eat well-baked thin bread, nor did he ever eat at a dining table.
