Baab Qurbani Ke Masail Ka Bayan

قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ : ثُمَّ شَهِدْتُ الْعِيدَ مَعَ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ ، فَكَانَ ذَلِكَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، فَصَلَّى قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ ، ثُمَّ خَطَبَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ قَدِ اجْتَمَعَ لَكُمْ فِيهِ عِيدَانِ ، فَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَنْتَظِرَ الْجُمُعَةَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعَوَالِي ، فَلْيَنْتَظِرْ ، وَمَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ فَقَدْ أَذِنْتُ لَهُ .

Urdu Translation

ابو عبید نے بیان کیا کہ   پھر میں عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ ( ان کی خلافت کے زمانہ میں عیدگاہ میں ) حاضر تھا۔ اس دن جمعہ بھی تھا۔ آپ نے خطبہ سے پہلے نماز عید پڑھائی پھر خطبہ دیا اور فرمایا کہ اے لوگو! آج کے دن تمہارے لیے دو عیدیں جمع ہو گئیں ہیں۔ ( عید اور جمعہ ) پس اطراف کے رہنے والوں میں سے جو شخص پسند کرے جمعہ کا بھی انتظار کرے اور اگر کوئی واپس جانا چاہے ( نماز عید کے بعد ہی ) تو وہ واپس جا سکتا ہے، میں نے اسے اجازت دے دی ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Abu `Ubaid: (in continuation of above). Then I witnessed the `Id with `Uthman bin `Affan, and that was on a Friday. He offered the prayer before the sermon, saying, O people! Today you have two 'Its (festivals) together, so whoever of those who live at Al-`Awali (suburbs) would like to wait for the Jumua prayer, he may wait, and whoever would like to return (home) Is granted my permission to do so.
