حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَوْا عَلَى حَيٍّ مِنْ أَحْيَاءِ الْعَرَبِ فَلَمْ يَقْرُوهُمْ ، فَبَيْنَمَا هُمْ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ لُدِغَ سَيِّدُ أُولَئِكَ ، فَقَالُوا : هَلْ مَعَكُمْ مِنْ دَوَاءٍ أَوْ رَاقٍ ، فَقَالُوا : إِنَّكُمْ لَمْ تَقْرُونَا وَلَا نَفْعَلُ حَتَّى تَجْعَلُوا لَنَا جُعْلًا ، فَجَعَلُوا لَهُمْ قَطِيعًا مِنَ الشَّاءِ ، فَجَعَلَ يَقْرَأُ بِأُمِّ الْقُرْآنِ ، وَيَجْمَعُ بُزَاقَهُ ، وَيَتْفِلُ ، فَبَرَأَ فَأَتَوْا بِالشَّاءِ ، فَقَالُوا : لَا نَأْخُذُهُ حَتَّى نَسْأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَأَلُوهُ فَضَحِكَ ، وَقَالَ : وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ أَنَّهَا رُقْيَةٌ خُذُوهَا وَاضْرِبُوا لِي بِسَهْمٍ .

Urdu Translation

مجھ سے محمد بن بشار نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے غندر نے، ان سے شعبہ نے، ان سے ابوبشر نے، ان سے ابوالمتوکل نے، ان سے ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے چند صحابہ در حالت سفر عرب کے ایک قبیلہ پر گزرے۔ قبیلہ والوں نے ان کی ضیافت نہیں کی کچھ دیر بعد اس قبیلہ کے سردار کو بچھو نے کاٹ لیا، اب قبیلہ والوں نے ان صحابہ سے کہا کہ آپ لوگوں کے پاس کوئی دوا یا کوئی جھاڑنے والا ہے۔ صحابہ نے کہا کہ تم لوگوں نے ہمیں مہمان نہیں بنایا اور اب ہم اس وقت تک دم نہیں کریں گے جب تک تم ہمارے لیے اس کی مزدوری نہ مقرر کر دو۔ چنانچہ ان لوگوں نے چند بکریاں دینی منظور کر لیں پھر ( ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ ) سورۃ فاتحہ پڑھنے لگے اور اس پر دم کرنے میں منہ کا تھوک بھی اس جگہ پر ڈالنے لگے۔ اس سے وہ شخص اچھا ہو گیا۔ چنانچہ قبیلہ والے بکریاں لے کر آئے لیکن صحابہ نے کہا کہ جب تک ہم نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے نہ پوچھ لیں یہ بکریاں نہیں لے سکتے پھر جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا تو آپ مسکرائے اور فرمایا تمہیں کیسے معلوم ہو گیا تھا کہ سورۃ فاتحہ سے دم بھی کیا جا سکتا ہے، ان بکریوں کو لے لو اور اس میں میرا بھی حصہ لگاؤ۔

English Translation

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Some of the companions of the Prophet came across a tribe amongst the tribes of the Arabs, and that tribe did not entertain them. While they were in that state, the chief of that tribe was bitten by a snake (or stung by a scorpion). They said, (to the companions of the Prophet ), Have you got any medicine with you or anybody who can treat with Ruqya? The Prophet's companions said, You refuse to entertain us, so we will not treat (your chief) unless you pay us for it. So they agreed to pay them a flock of sheep. One of them (the Prophet's companions) started reciting Surat-al-Fatiha and gathering his saliva and spitting it (at the snake-bite). The patient got cured and his people presented the sheep to them, but they said, We will not take it unless we ask the Prophet (whether it is lawful). When they asked him, he smiled and said, How do you know that Surat-al-Fatiha is a Ruqya? Take it (flock of sheep) and assign a share for me.
