حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ حُمْرَانَ بْنَ أَبَانَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، قَالَ : إِنَّكُمْ لَتُصَلُّونَ صَلَاةً لَقَدْ صَحِبْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَا رَأَيْنَاهُ يُصَلِّيهَا ، وَلَقَدْ نَهَى عَنْهُمَا يَعْنِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے محمد بن ابان نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے غندر محمد بن جعفر نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے شعبہ نے حدیث بیان کی ابوالتیاح یزید بن حمید سے، کہا کہ میں نے حمران بن ابان سے سنا، وہ معاویہ بن ابی سفیان رضی اللہ عنہما سے یہ حدیث بیان کرتے تھے کہ   انھوں نے فرمایا کہ تم لوگ تو ایک ایسی نماز پڑھتے ہو کہ ہم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی صحبت میں رہے لیکن ہم نے کبھی آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو وہ نماز پڑھتے نہیں دیکھا۔ بلکہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے تو اس سے منع فرمایا تھا۔ معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی مراد عصر کے بعد دو رکعتوں سے تھی ( جسے آپ کے زمانہ میں بعض لوگ پڑھتے تھے ) ۔

English Translation

Narrated Muawiya: You offer a prayer which I did not see being offered by Allah's Apostle when we were in his company and he certainly had forbidden it (i.e. two rak`at after the `Asr prayer).
