Narrated Jundub: While the Prophet was walking, a stone hit his foot and stumbled and his toe was injured. He then (quoting a poetic verse) said, You are not more than a toe which has been bathed in blood in Allah's Cause.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، سَمِعْتُ جُنْدَبًا ، يَقُولُ : بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمْشِي إِذْ أَصَابَهُ حَجَرٌ فَعَثَرَ فَدَمِيَتْ إِصْبَعُهُ فَقَالَ : هَلْ أَنْتِ إِلَّا إِصْبَعٌ دَمِيتِ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ مَا لَقِيتِ .

ہم سے ابونعیم نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے سفیان بن عیینہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے اسود بن قیس نے، انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے جندب بن عبداللہ بجلی سے سنا، انہوں نے کہا کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم چل رہے تھے کہ آپ کو پتھر سے ٹھوکر لگی اور آپ گر پڑے، اس سے آپ کی انگلی سے خون بہنے لگا، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہ شعر پڑھا ”تو تو اک انگلی ہے اور کیا ہے جو زخمی ہو گئی... کیا ہوا اگر راہ مولیٰ میں تو زخمی ہو گئی۔“
