حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أن النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْجُلُوسَ بِالطُّرُقَاتِ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا لَنَا مِنْ مَجَالِسِنَا بُدٌّ نَتَحَدَّثُ فِيهَا ، فَقَالَ : إِذْ أَبَيْتُمْ إِلَّا الْمَجْلِسَ ، فَأَعْطُوا الطَّرِيقَ حَقَّهُ ، قَالُوا : وَمَا حَقُّ الطَّرِيقِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : غَضُّ الْبَصَرِ ، وَكَفُّ الْأَذَى ، وَرَدُّ السَّلَامِ ، وَالْأَمْرُ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ ، وَالنَّهْيُ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے عبداللہ بن محمد نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے کہا ہم کو ابوعامر نے خبر دی، انہوں نے کہا ہم سے زہیر نے بیان کیا، ان سے زید بن اسلم نے بیان کیا، ان سے عطاء بن یسار نے بیان کیا اور ان سے ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیاکہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”راستوں پر بیٹھنے سے بچو! صحابہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! ہماری یہ مجالس تو بہت ضروری ہیں، ہم وہیں روزمرہ گفتگو کیا کرتے ہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اچھا جب تم ان مجلسوں میں بیٹھنا ہی چاہتے ہو تو راستے کا حق ادا کیا کرو یعنی راستے کو اس کا حق دو۔ صحابہ نے عرض کیا: راستے کا حق کیا ہے یا رسول اللہ! فرمایا ( غیر محرم عورتوں کو دیکھنے سے ) نظر نیچی رکھنا، راہ گیروں کو نہ ستانا، سلام کا جواب دینا، بھلائی کا حکم دینا اور برائی سے روکنا۔

English Translation

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: The Prophet said, 'Beware! Avoid sitting on the roads. They (the people) said, O Allah s Apostle! We can't help sitting (on the roads) as these are (our places) here we have talks. The Prophet said, ' l f you refuse but to sit, then pay the road its right ' They said, What is the right of the road, O Allah's Apostle? He said, 'Lowering your gaze, refraining from harming others, returning greeting, and enjoining what is good, and forbidding what is evil.
