Narrated Mirdas Al-Aslami: The Prophet said, The righteous (pious people will depart (die) in succession one after the other, and there will remain (on the earth) useless people like the useless husk of barley seeds or bad dates.

حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ بَيَانٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ مِرْدَاسٍ الْأَسْلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَذْهَبُ الصَّالِحُونَ الْأَوَّلُ فَالْأَوَّلُ ، وَيَبْقَى حُفَالَةٌ كَحُفَالَةِ الشَّعِيرِ أَوِ التَّمْرِ ، لَا يُبَالِيهِمُ اللَّهُ بَالَةً ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ : يُقَالُ حُفَالَةٌ وَحُثَالَةٌ .

مجھ سے یحییٰ بن حماد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے ابوعوانہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے بیان بن بشر نے، ان سے قیس بن ابی حازم نے اور ان سے مرداس اسلمی رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ   نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”نیک لوگ یکے بعد دیگرے گزر جائیں گے اس کے بعد جَو کہ بھوسے یا کھجور کے کچرے کی طرح کچھ لوگ دنیا میں رہ جائیں گے جن کی اللہ پاک کو کچھ ذرا بھی پروا نہ ہو گی۔“ امام بخاری رحمہ اللہ نے کہا «حفالة» اور «حثالة‏.‏» دونوں کے ایک معنی ہیں۔
