حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُطَرِّفٌ ، أَنَّ عَامِرًا حَدَّثَهُمْ ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : لِعَلِيٍّ . ح حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ ،أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُطَرِّفٌ ، سَمِعْتُ الشَّعْبِيَّ ، يُحَدِّثُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا جُحَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : هَلْ عِنْدَكُمْ شَيْءٌ مِمَّا لَيْسَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ ؟ ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ مَرَّةً : مَا لَيْسَ عِنْدَ النَّاسِ ، فَقَالَ : وَالَّذِي فَلَقَ الْحَبَّةَ ، وَبَرَأَ النَّسَمَةَ ، مَا عِنْدَنَا إِلَّا مَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ إِلَّا فَهْمًا يُعْطَى رَجُلٌ فِي كِتَابِهِ وَمَا فِي الصَّحِيفَةِ ، قُلْتُ : وَمَا فِي الصَّحِيفَةِ ؟ ، قَالَ : الْعَقْلُ وَفِكَاكُ الْأَسِيرِ وَأَنْ لَا يُقْتَلَ مُسْلِمٌ بِكَافِرٍ .

Urdu Translation

ہم سے احمد بن یونس نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے زہیر بن معاویہ نے، کہا ہم سے مطرف بن طریف نے، ان سے عامر شعبی نے بیان کیا۔ ابوجحیفہ سے روایت کر کے، کہا میں نے علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہا۔ (دوسری سند) امام بخاری رحمہ اللہ نے کہا اور ہم سے صدقہ بن فضل نے، کہا ہم کو سفیان بن عیینہ نے خبر دی، کہا ہم سے مطرف بن طریف نے بیان کیا، کہا میں نے عامر شعبی سے سنا، وہ بیان کرتے تھے کہ   میں نے ابوجحیفہ سے سنا، انہوں نے کہا میں نے علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا کیا آپ کے پاس اور بھی کچھ آیتیں یا سورتیں ہیں جو اس قرآن میں نہیں ہیں ( یعنی مشہور مصحف میں ) اور کبھی سفیان بن عیینہ نے یوں کہا کہ جو عام لوگوں کے پاس نہیں ہیں۔ علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا قسم اس اللہ کی جس نے دانہ چیر کر اگایا اور جان کو پیدا کیا ہمارے پاس اس قرآن کے سوا اور کچھ نہیں ہے۔ البتہ ایک سمجھ ہے جو اللہ تعالیٰ اپنی کتاب کی جس کو چاہتا ہے عنایت فرماتا ہے اور وہ جو اس ورق پہ لکھا ہوا ہے۔ ابوجحیفہ نے کہا اس ورق پہ کیا لکھا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا دیت اور قیدی چھڑانے کے احکام اور یہ مسئلہ کہ مسلمان کافر کے بدلے قتل نہ کیا جائے۔

English Translation

Narrated Abu Juhaifa: I asked `Ali Do you have anything Divine literature besides what is in the Qur'an? Or, as Uyaina once said, Apart from what the people have? `Ali said, By Him Who made the grain split (germinate) and created the soul, we have nothing except what is in the Qur'an and the ability (gift) of understanding Allah's Book which He may endow a man, with and what is written in this sheet of paper. I asked, What is on this paper? He replied, The legal regulations of Diya (Blood-money) and the (ransom for) releasing of the captives, and the judgment that no Muslim should be killed in Qisas (equality in punishment) for killing a Kafir (disbeliever).
