Narrated Aishah, Ummul Muminin: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would say the takbir (Allah is most great) seven times in the first rak'ah and five times in the second rak'ah on the day of the breaking of the fast and on the day of sacrifice (on the occasion of both the Eid prayers, the two festivals).

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُكَبِّرُ فِي الْفِطْرِ وَالْأَضْحَى فِي الْأُولَى سَبْعَ تَكْبِيرَاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ خَمْسًا .

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عید الفطر اور عید الاضحی کی پہلی رکعت میں سات تکبیریں اور دوسری رکعت میں پانچ تکبیریں کہتے تھے ۱؎۔
