حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ رَدِيفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ تَسْتَفْتِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَعَلَ الْفَضْلُ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا وَتَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْرِفُ وَجْهَ الْفَضْلِ إِلَى الشِّقِّ الْآخَرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللَّهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ فِي الْحَجِّ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَثْبُتَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ.

Urdu Translation

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   فضل بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ پیچھے سوار تھے کہ قبیلہ خثعم کی ایک عورت آپ کے پاس فتویٰ پوچھنے آئی تو فضل اسے دیکھنے لگے اور وہ فضل کو دیکھنے لگی تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فضل کا منہ اس عورت کی طرف سے دوسری طرف پھیرنے لگے ۱؎، اس نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! اللہ تعالیٰ کے اپنے بندوں پر ( عائد کردہ ) فریضہ حج نے میرے والد کو اس حالت میں پایا ہے کہ وہ بوڑھے ہو چکے ہیں، اونٹ پر نہیں بیٹھ سکتے کیا میں ان کی جانب سے حج کر لوں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ہاں ، اور یہ واقعہ حجۃ الوداع میں پیش آیا۔

English Translation

Abdullah bin Abbas said Al Fadl bin Abbas was riding the Camel behind the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. A woman of the tribe of Khath’am came seeking his (the Prophet’s) decision (about a problem relating to Hajj). Al Fadl began to look at her and she too began to look at him. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم would turn the face of Fadl to the other side. She said Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم Allaah’s commandment that His servants should perform Hajj has come when my father is an old man and is unable to sit firmly on a Camel. May I perform Hajj on his behalf? He said yes, That was at the Farewell Pilgrimage.
