Sunan Abu Dawood 2627 - Jihad (Kitab Al-Jihad)

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ بِشْرِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ مَالِكٍ مِنْ رَهْطِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَرِيَّةً فَسَلَحْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْهُمْ سَيْفًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَوْ رَأَيْتَ مَا لَامَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَعَجَزْتُمْ إِذْ بَعَثْتُ رَجُلًا مِنْكُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمْ يَمْضِ لِأَمْرِي أَنْ تَجْعَلُوا مَكَانَهُ مَنْ يَمْضِي لِأَمْرِي .

Urdu Translation

عقبہ بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک سریہ ( دستہ ) بھیجا، میں نے ان میں سے ایک شخص کو تلوار دی، جب وہ لوٹ کر آیا تو کہنے لگا: کاش آپ وہ دیکھتے جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہم کو ملامت کی ہے، آپ نے فرمایا: کیا تم سے یہ نہیں ہو سکتا تھا کہ جب میں نے ایک شخص کو بھیجا اور وہ میرا حکم بجا نہیں لایا تو تم اس کے بدلے کسی ایسے شخص کو مقرر کر دیتے جو میرا حکم بجا لاتا ۔

English Translation

Narrated Uqbah ibn Malik: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم sent a detachment. I gave a sword to a man from among them. When he came back, he said: Would that you saw us how the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم rebuked us, saying: When I sent out a man who does not fulfil my command, are you unable to appoint in his place one who will fulfil my command.
