حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرَدْنَ أَنْ يَبْعَثْنَ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقِ فَيَسْأَلْنَهُ ثُمُنَهُنَّ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَتْ لَهُنَّ عَائِشَةُ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَيْسَ قَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا نُورَثُ مَا تَرَكْنَا فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ .

Urdu Translation

ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں   جب رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے وفات پائی تو امہات المؤمنین نے ارادہ کیا کہ عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ کو ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس بھیج کر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی میراث سے اپنا آٹھواں حصہ طلب کریں، تو ام المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے ان سب سے کہا ( کیا تمہیں یاد نہیں ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ہے: ہمارا کوئی وارث نہیں ہوتا ہے، ہم جو چھوڑ جائیں وہ صدقہ ہے ۔

English Translation

Narrated Aishah: When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم died, the wives of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم intended to send Uthman bin Affan to Abu Bakr to ask him their cost of living from (the inheritance of) the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. Thereupon Aishah said: Did not the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: We are not inherited. Whatever we leave is sadaqah.
