حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُبَيْدٍ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ غَالِبِ بْنِ أَبْجَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَصَابَتْنَا سَنَةٌ فَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي مَالِي شَيْءٌ أُطْعِمُ أَهْلِي إِلَّا شَيْءٌ مِنْ حُمُرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَرَّمَ لُحُومَ الْحُمُرِ الْأَهْلِيَّةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَصَابَتْنَا السَّنَةُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ فِي مَالِي مَا أُطْعِمُ أَهْلِي إِلَّا سِمَانُ الْحُمُرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنَّكَ حَرَّمْتَ لُحُومَ الْحُمُرِ الْأَهْلِيَّةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَطْعِمْ أَهْلَكَ مِنْ سَمِينِ حُمُرِكَ فَإِنَّمَا حَرَّمْتُهَا مِنْ أَجْلِ جَوَّالِ الْقَرْيَةِ يَعْنِي الْجَلَّالَةَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ 12 أَبُو دَاوُدَ 12:‏‏‏‏ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ هَذَا هُوَ ابْنُ مَعْقِلٍ، قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ رَوَى شُعْبَةُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُبَيْدٍ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَاسٍ مِنْ مُزَيْنَةَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ سَيِّدَ مُزَيْنَةَ أَبْجَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوِ ابْنَ أَبْجَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.

Urdu Translation

غالب بن ابجر کہتے ہیں   ہمیں قحط سالی لاحق ہوئی اور ہمارے پاس گدھوں کے علاوہ کچھ نہیں تھا جسے ہم اپنے اہل و عیال کو کھلاتے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم گھریلو گدھوں کے گوشت کو حرام کر چکے تھے، چنانچہ میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا اور میں نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! ہم کو قحط سالی نے آ پکڑا ہے اور ہمارے پاس سوائے موٹے گدھوں کے کوئی مال نہیں جسے ہم اپنے اہل و عیال کو کھلا سکیں اور آپ گھریلو گدھوں کے گوشت کو حرام کر چکے ہیں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم اپنے اہل و عیال کو اپنے موٹے گدھے کھلاؤ میں نے انہیں گاؤں گاؤں گھومنے کی وجہ سے حرام کیا ہے یعنی نجاست خور گدھوں کو حرام کیا ہے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: عبدالرحمٰن سے مراد ابن معقل ہیں۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اس حدیث کو شعبہ نے عبیدابوالحسن سے، عبید نے عبدالرحمٰن بن معقل سے عبدالرحمٰن بن معقل نے عبدالرحمٰن بن بشر سے انہوں نے مزینہ کے چند لوگوں سے روایت کیا کہ مزینہ کے سردار ابجر یا ابن ابجر نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سوال کیا تھا۔

English Translation

Narrated Ghalib ibn Abjar: We faced a famine, and I had nothing from my property which I could feed my family ex except a few asses, and the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم forbade the flesh of domestic asses. So I came to the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and said: Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم, we are suffering from famine, and I have no property which I feed my family except some fat asses, and you have forbidden the flesh of domestic asses. He said: Feed your family on the fat asses of yours, for I forbade them on account of the animal which feeds on the filth of the town, that is, the animal which feeds on filth. Abu Dawud said: This Abdur-Rahman is Ibn Maqil. Abu Dawud said: Suh'bah transmitted this tradition from Ubaid Abi al-Hasan, from Abdur-Rahman bin Maq'il, fromAbdur-Rahman bin Bishr, from some people of Muzainah stating that Abjar, the chief of Muzainah, or Ibn Abjar asked the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم.
