حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَوُفٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَيَّانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ غَيْر مُسَدَّدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَيَانُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا قَطَنُ بْنُ قَبِيصَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ الْعِيَافَةُ وَالطِّيَرَةُ وَالطَّرْقُ مِنَ الْجِبْتِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏الطَّرْقُ:‏‏‏‏ الزَّجْرُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعِيَافَةُ:‏‏‏‏ الْخَطُّ.

Urdu Translation

قبیصہ بن وقاص رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں   میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے ہوئے سنا: رمل، بدشگونی اور پرند اڑانا کفر کی رسموں میں سے ہے پرندوں کو ڈانٹ کر اڑانا طرق ہے، اور «عيافة» وہ لکیریں ہیں جو زمین پر کھینچی جاتی ہیں جسے رمل کہتے ہیں۔

English Translation

Narrated Qabisah: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم say: Augury from the flight of birds, taking evil omens and the practice of pressomancy pertain to divination. Tarq: It is used in the sense of divination in which women threw stones. 'Iyafah: It means geomancy by drawing lines.
