حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَمِّهِ أَبِي سُهَيْلِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ طَلْحَةَ بْنَ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَهْلِ نَجْدٍ ثَائِرَ الرَّأْسِ يُسْمَعُ دَوِيُّ صَوْتِهِ وَلَا يُفْقَهُ مَا يَقُولُ حَتَّى دَنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا هُوَ يَسْأَلُ عَنِ الْإِسْلَامِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ خَمْسُ صَلَوَاتٍ فِي الْيَوْمِ وَاللَّيْلَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَلْ عَلَيَّ غَيْرُهُنَّ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا أَنْ تَطَّوَّعَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَذَكَرَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صِيَامَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ هَلْ عَلَيَّ غَيْرُهُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا أَنْ تَطَّوَّعَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَذَكَرَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّدَقَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَهَلْ عَلَيَّ غَيْرُهَا ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِلَّا أَنْ تَطَّوَّعَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَدْبَرَ الرَّجُلُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ وَاللَّهِ لَا أَزِيدُ عَلَى هَذَا وَلَا أَنْقُصُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَفْلَحَ إِنْ صَدَقَ .

Urdu Translation

طلحہ بن عبیداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   اہل نجد کا ایک شخص رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس آیا، جس کے بال پراگندہ تھے، اس کی آواز کی گنگناہٹ تو سنی جاتی تھی لیکن بات سمجھ میں نہیں آتی تھی کہ وہ کیا کہہ رہا ہے، یہاں تک کہ وہ قریب آیا، تب معلوم ہوا کہ وہ اسلام کے متعلق پوچھ رہا ہے، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ( اسلام ) دن رات میں پانچ وقت کی نماز پڑھنی ہے ، اس نے پوچھا: ان کے علاوہ اور کوئی نماز مجھ پر واجب ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہیں ۱؎ إلا یہ کہ تم نفل پڑھو ۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے ماہ رمضان کے روزے کا ذکر کیا، اس نے پوچھا: اس کے سوا کوئی اور بھی روزے مجھ پر فرض ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہیں، إلا یہ کہ تم نفلی روزے رکھو ۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سے زکاۃ کا ذکر کیا، اس نے پوچھا: اس کے علاوہ کوئی اور بھی صدقہ مجھ پر واجب ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہیں، إلایہ کہ تم نفلی صدقہ کرو ۔ پھر وہ شخص پیٹھ پھیر کر یہ کہتے ہوئے چلا: قسم اللہ کی! میں نہ اس سے زیادہ کروں گا اور نہ کم، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: بامراد رہا اگر اس نے سچ کہا ۔

English Translation

Talhah bin Ubaid Allah said: A man from among the people of Najd with disheveled hair came to the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. The humming sound of his voice could be heard but what he was suing could not be understood he came near and it was then known that he was asking about Islam. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: Five times of prayer each day and night: He asked: Must I observe any more than them ? He replied: No, unless you do it voluntarily. He (Talhah) said that the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم mentioned fasting during the month of Ramadan. He asked: Must I observe anything else ? He replied: No, unless you do it voluntarily. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم mentioned Zakat to him. He asked: Must I pay anything else ? He replied: No, unless you do it voluntarily. The man then turned away saying: I swear any Allah, I shall not add anything to this or fall short of it. The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: The man will be successful if he speaks truth.
