Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم asked Ma’iz bin Malik: Is what I have heard about you is true? He said: What have you heard about me? He said: I have heard that you have had intercourse with a girl belonging to the family of so and so. He said: Yes. He then testified four times. He (The prophet) then gave order regarding him and he was stoned to death.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِمَاعِزِ بْنِ مَالِك:‏‏‏‏ أَحَقٌّ مَا بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَمَا بَلَغَكَ عَنِّي ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ أَنَّكَ وَقَعْتَ عَلَى جَارِيَةِ بَنِي فُلَانٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ فَشَهِدَ أَرْبَعَ شَهَادَاتٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَرُجِمَ .

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ماعز بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ سے فرمایا: کیا تمہارے متعلق جو بات مجھے معلوم ہوئی ہے صحیح ہے؟ وہ بولے: میرے متعلق آپ کو کون سی بات معلوم ہوئی ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: مجھے یہ بات پہنچی ہے کہ تم نے بنی فلاں کی باندی سے زنا کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہاں، پھر چار بار اس کی گواہی دی، تو آپ نے انہیں رجم کرنے کا حکم دیا، چنانچہ وہ رجم کر دیئے گئے۔
