حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَوْ عَلِمْنَا أَنَّ كَلِمَةَ الْحَسَنِ تَبْلُغُ مَا بَلَغَتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَكَتَبْنَا بِرُجُوعِهِ كِتَابًا وَأَشْهَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ شُهُودًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَكِنَّا قُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ كَلِمَةٌ خَرَجَتْ لَا تُحْمَلُ .

Urdu Translation

ابن عون کہتے ہیں کہ   اگر ہمیں یہ معلوم ہوتا کہ حسن کی بات ( غلط معنی کے ساتھ شہرت کے ) اس مقام کو پہنچ جائے گی جہاں وہ پہنچ گئی تو ہم لوگ ان کے اس قول کے بارے میں ان کے رجوع کی بابت ایک کتاب لکھتے اور اس پر لوگوں کو گواہ بناتے، لیکن ہم نے سوچا کہ ایک بات ہے جو نکل گئی ہے اور اس کے خلاف معنی پر محمول نہیں کی جائے گی ۱؎۔

English Translation

Ibn Awn said: If we learnt that the remark of al-Hasan would reach the extent that it has reached, we would write a book for his withdrawal and call witnesses to him; but we said: This is a remark that surprisingly came out (from him) and it will not be transmitted to others.
