حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا. ح حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْعِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ خَيْرُ أُمَّتِي الْقَرْنُ الَّذِينَ بُعِثْتُ فِيهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ أَذَكَرَ الثَّالِثَ أَمْ لَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يَظْهَرُ قَوْمٌ يَشْهَدُونَ وَلَا يُسْتَشْهَدُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَنْذِرُونَ وَلَا يُوفُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَخُونُونَ وَلَا يُؤْتَمَنُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَفْشُو فِيهِمُ السِّمَنُ .

Urdu Translation

عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: میری امت کے سب سے بہتر لوگ وہ ہیں جن میں مجھے مبعوث کیا گیا، پھر وہ جو ان سے قریب ہیں، پھر وہ جو ان سے قریب ہیں اللہ ہی زیادہ جانتا ہے کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے تیسرے کا ذکر کیا یا نہیں، پھر کچھ لوگ رونما ہوں گے جو بلا گواہی طلب کئے گواہی دیتے پھریں گے، نذر مانیں گے لیکن پوری نہ کریں گے، خیانت کرنے لگیں گے جس سے ان پر سے بھروسہ اٹھ جائے گا، اور ان میں موٹاپا عام ہو گا ۱؎ ۔

English Translation

Imran bin Husain reported the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم as saying: the best of my people is the generation in which I have been sent, then their immediate followers, then their immediate followers. Allah knows best whether he mentioned the third or not. After them will be people who will give testimony without being asked, who will make vows which they do not fulfill, who will be treacherous and not to be trusted, among whom fatness will appear.
